Gaikwad Ruled Out Of IPL 2025; How Did His Replacement Perform Against KKR?

On Friday, April 11, Chennai  Super Kings locked horns against Kolkata Knight Riders at the Chepauk Stadium. The visitors won the toss and asked CSK to bat first. The decision turned out to be a masterstroke as the Men in Yellow lost four early wickets.

The five-time winners underwent several changes for the ongoing match as their regular skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad was ruled out of the remainder of the tournament because of a elbow fracture. Meanwhile, MS Dhoni returned as captain.

Talking about Gaikwad, CSK didn't name an official replacement for the right-hand batter for the remainder of the tournament, but replaced their regular captain with Rahul Tripathi for the KKR clash. 

How Did Rahul Tripathi Perform vs KKR?

Rahul Tripathi was Gaikwad's official replacement for the ongoing match and the right-hand batter had a forgetful match as Tripathi returned to the pavilion after a sluggish knock. Notably, Tripathi amassed 16 (22), which featured a solitary boundary. He struggled to hit the ball and only managed to play at a strike-rate of 72.73.

Tripathi has had the worst of starts to an season as the CSK star has played four matches so far and amassed just 46 runs in four matches. Talking about the ongoing match, CSK are in deep trouble as the Men in Yellow are 70/5 after 13 overs.
