Rajasthan Royals (RR) are going through a rough patch in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. Despite giving their best, they’ve been struggling to chase down targets. Under Riyan Parag’s captaincy, things haven’t improved much. On May 4 at Eden Gardens, they faced another tough day against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).

Riyan Parag Gets Furious

During the match, RR captain Riyan Parag looked clearly upset and angry as his team kept losing wickets while chasing a big target of 207. His frustration peaked when all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga got out without scoring (a duck) against Varun Chakravarthy’s clever spin bowling.

The KKR star spinner was on fire, another delivery crashed into the stumps. First he removed wicket-keeper batter Dhruv Jurel for golden duck. Later, Hasaranga, who was sent up the order to handle spin, couldn’t even survive two balls. A silver duck for him, and RR were in deep trouble at 71/5.

For the second match in a row, Rajasthan Royals seemed to forget how to bat. The look on Riyan Parag’s face said it all, disappointment, frustration, and helplessness. The 23-year-old all rounder was the only one trying to keep the chase alive, fighting a lone battle.

KKR Post A Gigantic Target For RR

Earlier in the match, KKR had put up a strong total of 207, thanks to powerful knocks from Andre Russell, scoring unbeaten 57 runs and young Angkrish Raghuvanshi, scoring 44 off 31 balls.

During the chase, things fell apart quickly for RR. Yashasvi Jaiswal got out for 34 off 21 balls, young batter Vaibhav Suryavanshi scored just 4 off 2 balls, Kunal Singh Rathore went for a duck, and Dhruv Jurel was dismissed for a golden duck.

At the time of writing, RR were trying to pull things off in their favour, with Riyan Parag and Shimron Hetmyer at the crease.
