Andre Russell has always been known for his power hitting. The Jamacian powerhouse has been the reason behind multiple KKR wins in the history of the tourmament. The IPL 2025 season was not going as per expectations for him, however in the ongoing game between KKR and RR, Russell has shown why he has been hailed by the IPL fans as one of the elite hitters.
Ajinkya Rahane, won the toss for the game and opted to bat first on a wicket, which he felt might slow down with the progress of the game. The Knight Riders did not have the best of starts as Sunil Narine was dismissed early. However, the other batters of the team batted steadily and laid the foundation for a formidable total.
Andre Russell Joins Chris Gayle In An Elite List
The Knight Riders sent Russell to bat at number five today in the 13th over of the innings. There has been a discussion that the Knight management has been keeping him for too late and hence this decision was taken and the decision paid great dividends for them in the game.
Andre Russell played a blinder, scoring 57 runs off just 25 deliveries. It was his muscle power that propelled the Knights to a formidable target of 206/4 at the end of 20 overs. During his knock in the innings, Russell hit three sixes in the 18th over of the innings against Maheesh Theekshana. Andre Russell Makes The Most Of The Opportunity vs RR
Notably, Andre Russell started slow and took time to settle down in the innings. However, once the Jamaican got a feel of the pitch and the bowlers, it was hard to stop him. He acclerated rapidly and destroyed the RR bowlers thrashing to all the parts of the ground.
Throughout the season, KKR have reserved him for the finishing job. As result of this his abilities have not been the made the most use of. So, it was refreshing to see Russell having the time to settle down and unleash his destruction on the Royals.
