Rishabh Pant against England (Source: @Sport360/X.com)
Rishabh Pant is arguably the best wicketkeeper-batter in Test cricket currently. He has scored runs across the globe and has been in great form in the ongoing series against England too.
In the first Test, he scored centuries in both innings, while he departed on 25 in the first outing of the Edgbaston Test. The man is back with a bang on Day 4, though, and has blasted 41 off 35 balls during his unbeaten stay till Lunch.
Rishabh Pant Unleashes His Funky Mode Against England
The batter is known for his funky shots and often gets into awkward positions with his antics. He has often lost his bat while playing aggressive shots in the past, and the same thing happened in the second innings of the Edgbaston Test.
Josh Tongue, the bowler, bowled a fullish delivery, around off. Pant went for a wild slog across the line but missed the ball altogether and lost the bat as well as it went aerially towards the square leg region. The bat flying in the air initially surprised everyone, but it is nothing new for Rishabh Pant, and things continued as usual after that delivery.
India Need Rishabh Pant To Continue Fireworks
From India's point of view, they will not mind more such bat-losing moments from Rishabh Pant if he continues to score runs with consistency at the rate he has done in this series. Pant and Shubman Gill are currently in the middle of an important partnership, and with India's lead over 350, they would be looking to score 100 more runs before thinking of declaring.
The Men in Blue are expected to come out with more aggressive intent in the second session. So, they would hope that Pant bats for the majority of overs, which would help India stretch the lead as much as possible in quick time. It will give Indian bowlers ample opportunity to bowl out England in the final innings and level the series after losing the first match.
