KKR Name Ajinkya Rahane, Venkatesh Iyer As Captain, Vice-Captain
The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) franchise named senior Indian cricketer Ajinkya Rahane as team captain for the upcoming IPL 2025 season. Shreyas Iyer, who led KKR to its third title last year, was not retained by the KKR team management prior to the IPL 2025 mega auction a couple of months ago.
Additionally, KKR also appointed franchise zealot Venkatesh Iyer as the new vice-captain of the team. A couple of weeks away from the IPL 2025 season, the KKR franchise also unveiled its new jersey design which features a ‘Golden IPL badge’ to signify their defending champions’ tag.
RCB Unveil Unbox Event Schedule For IPL 2025
The RCB franchise has confirmed that its ‘Unbox Event’ for the IPL 2025 season will be taking place on March 17, i.e., five days prior to the launch of the tournament. Moreover, the franchise also revealed that the event will be hosted by the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, and the tickets for the same will go on sale sometime later this week.
The RCB team, under the leadership of new captain Rajat Patidar, will play its first match of the IPL 2025 season on March 22 with a match against defending champions KKR in Kolkata.
James Anderson Eyes The Hundred For T20 Comeback After IPL Snub
Legendary England fast bowler James Anderson is eying to make his comeback to T20 cricket through the upcoming Men’s The Hundred 2025 season. Anderson, who is yet to play a single competitive match since his farewell Test against West Indies last year, played his last T20 match more than 10 years ago back in 2014.
The 42-year-old has reportedly registered his name in next week’s draft of The Hundred. He also put himself up for grabs at the IPL 2025 mega auction, only to go unsold at the bidding event. Notably, if James Anderson finds a spot in either of the eight competing franchises at the draft, the upcoming Men’s The Hundred 2025 season will mark his maiden stint in ECB’s lucrative 100-ball competition.
Matthew Short Ruled Out Of CT Before Semifinal Vs India
Australian opening batter Matthew Short has been ruled out of the remainder of the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy. A day before Australia’s semifinal clash against India at the Dubai International Stadium, Short was ruled out due to a quad injury he sustained during the Afghanistan game.
Cricket Australia named star all-rounder Cooper Connolly as his replacement and he will likely be taking field against India in the semifinal. Earlier in the ongoing ICC Champions Trophy, Matthew Short struck a match-winning 63 for Australia at the top of the order against England.
