After opting to bat first, Bangladesh had a disastrous start to their innings, with Shaheen Afridi dismissing Tanzid Hasan and Najmul Hossain Shanto in quick succession. Haris Rauf aggravated the Tigers' miseries further, getting rid of Mushfiqur Rahim with a dream delivery.

The experienced duo of Mahmudullah and Litton Das stitched a priceless 79-run stand before Iftikhar Ahmed dismissed the latter to provide Pakistan with a valuable breakthrough. While Mahmudullah departed soon after completing his fifty, skipper Shakib Al Hasan managed a fighting 64-ball 43 before being dismissed by Rauf's well-directed short ball.

Shakib's dismissal opened the floodgates for Bangladesh, who were eventually bowled out for an under-par 204-run total in 45.1 overs. Shaheen Afridi and Mohammad Wasim Jr starred with the ball, scalping three wickets each.

Zaman and Shafique stand tall as Pakistan ace the chase

In response, Pakistan got off to a flying start, as Fakhar Zaman and Abdullah Shafique took on the Bangladesh bowlers right from the word go. Both batters capitalised on the batting-friendly conditions, setting the platform for a smooth run chase.

Before getting out, Shafique struck nine fours and two sixes for his 68-run knock. Meanwhile, Zaman silenced his critics in style, playing a glorious 81-run knock, including three fours and seven massive sixes.

Although Babar Azam departed cheaply, Mohammad Rizwan and Iftikhar Ahmed remained unbeaten, helping Pakistan cross the finish line.
