While his elder brother James Rew rewrites county cricket records, 17-year-old Thomas Rew is forging his own path as England's latest batting prodigy, announcing himself with remarkable consistency against a formidable India U19 side across a gruelling multi-format series.

Notably, Rew compiled an impressive 418 runs (280 in ODIs, 143 in Youth Tests), emerging as England U19's most reliable batters against high-quality spin and pace.

Thomas Rew's Exceptional Contribution In Whites!

Rew seamlessly transitioned his form to the longer format. In the first Youth Test at Beckenham, facing a daunting chase of 350, Rew showcased maturity beyond his years. His vital second-innings 50 off just 35 balls, alongside Hamza Shaikh's century and Ben Mayes' fifty, was instrumental in England salvaging a hard-fought draw under pressure. He had earlier contributed a patient 34 off 73 in the first innings.

The ongoing second Test further cemented his reputation. Batting first, England found themselves in deep trouble at 80/5. Once again, Rew stood firm. His 59 off 79 balls provided the backbone of England's recovery, guiding them to a more respectable 229/7 by stumps on day one.

This knock demonstrated his ability to graft and counter-attack when his team needed it most, taking his Test series tally to 143 runs at an average of 47.67.

Rew Announced Arrival With ODI Dominance

Rew's arrival was emphatic in the ODI leg. After a brief 5 in the opener, he exploded with a breathtaking 131 off just 89 balls in the second ODI, chasing India's 291. Arriving at 47/3, Rew, alongside Rocky Flintoff, resuscitated England's hopes.

His century, reached in a record-breaking 73 balls for an England U19 player, featured audacious strokeplay, including six sixes. This wasn't a one-off. Rew followed it with a crucial 76 off 44 balls in the third ODI and a composed, unbeaten 49 off 37 in the series finale, finishing the ODI series with a staggering average of 93.33 and a strike rate of 142.13.

Thomas Rew's performances against a strong Indian U19 attack have been exceptional. While he is understandably compared to his accomplished brother James, Thomas is rapidly carving out his own identity in the game.
