The Navi Mumbai weather has been gloomy for the last few weeks, and now it threatens to spoil the fun in the Women’s World Cup finale as the toss has been delayed in the India vs South Africa clash at the DY Patil Stadium. The match was set to begin at 3 PM IST, but rain halted the plans as fans eagerly wait for the finale to begin.

As per Accuweather, there is a 65% chance of rain in the afternoon, and things could get interesting as the day progresses. In this article, we look at the hourly weather update and whether any play is possible today between India and South Africa.

The weather update keeps changing, and currently, the precipitation chance is 63% with 67% cloud cover in the afternoon. Interestingly, the rain intensity will decrease as of 4 PM IST, the rain chances will decrease to 49% and as the hour passes, things might turn ugly with a 58% chance of precipitation at 6 PM.

From 6 PM to 9 PM, the rain will play a cat-and-mouse game as the precipitation numbers will remain on the higher side; however, post 9 PM, the intensity will go down. After 9 PM, the rain percentage will come down to 20%, but that would be too late for a game to commence, as reserve day might come into play.

What happens if World Cup final goes to reserve day?

There are two scenarios if the game goes to the reserve day on Monday. If a full 50-over match begins on Sunday but is interrupted due to rain midway and the match is reduced to 40 overs or less per side and cannot resume on the same day, it will restart as a fresh 50-over contest the following day.

Or, if the play resumes after being reduced to 40 overs, but rain returns and stops the play again, then in such a scenario, the match will begin from the same spot on the reserve day, and won’t start from ball one.
