Team India, jolted by England at Hyderabad, will now face the visitors at Visakhapatnam for the second Test of their five-match series. The much-awaited contest will be staged at the city’s Dr. Y. S. Rajashekar Reddy ACA–VDCA Cricket Stadium between February 2 and February 6.
The last Test match played out at the venue was organised back in October 2019, when South Africa’s visiting troops were handed a 203-run larruping by the hosts. With the stadium poised to make its return to the country’s Test lore after nearly four-and-a-half-years, and with England having taken a 1-0 lead in the ongoing series, it is imperative to get acclimatised with the venue’s past statistical history and overall analysis.
Ahead of India’s second match against England, here at OneCricket, we take a detailed look at Visakhapatnam’s track record in Test cricket.

The Dr. Y. S. Rajashekar Reddy ACA–VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam has so far hosted two Test matches since its introduction to the format in late 2016. While the Indian team hosted England back in November 2016 to mark the stadium’s Test debut, the hosts also commenced their 2019 home series against South Africa at the venue.
Under Virat Kohli’s leadership, the Indian team won both matches by identical margins, and by following a somewhat similar template: amassing runs upfront before letting spinners cut through opposition’s batting line-ups.
Ideally suited for spinners, the surface here has also provided occasional assistance for fast bowlers. As fans embrace for another potential Test classic, here is a brief look at the venue’s statistical details.
