Shaik Rasheed in action [Source: @AndhraT20League/X]
Young Indian batter Shaik Rasheed had a phenomenal outing in the tenth league-stage match of the ongoing Andhra Premier League season. Opening the batting for the Royals of Rayalaseema, Rasheed hammered 67 runs off just 48 balls, playing a pivotal role in his side's emphatic victory over Tungabhadra Warriors.
Shaik Rasheed's Exploits Set APL On Fire
After winning the toss and opting to bowl first, Tungabhadra Warriors had a dream start to the game, reducing Rayalaseema to 48 for three inside the powerplay. However, the dismissals of N M Kumar, DK Reddy and Pyla Avinash hardly affected skipper Shaik Rasheed, who pushed the Warriors onto the back foot with his scintillating stroke-play.
Apart from playing glorious straight drives, Rasheed collected boundaries through the off side by charging down the track against fast bowlers. His wrist work was a delight to watch during the game, as the stylish right-hander struck delicate cuts and leg glances, putting away ordinary deliveries into the fence.
The young batter, who plays for Chennai Super Kings in the IPL, also showcased his power-hitting skills, dispatching full-length deliveries from the spinners straight into the stands. His 48-ball 67, studded with six fours and two sixes, powered the Royals to 191, a total which they defended successfully by bundling out the Warriors for 140.
Rasheed Could Be On The Radar Of Multiple IPL Teams
Shaik Rasheed was purchased by CSK for INR 30 lakhs in last year's mega auction. However, the CSK think tank eventually replaced him with Urvil Patel after he failed to perform consistently for them in the IPL 2025.
Despite having a rough time in the tournament, Rasheed is undoubtedly one of the brightest talents in the Indian domestic circuit. Thus, if the CSK management decides to release him, several franchises might show interest in acquiring Rasheed, either through trade or in the mini auction.
