Pakistan has faced a fresh defeat against the West Indies in a three-match ODI series. While they won the first game, they lost the next two, conceding the series to the home team. Notably, it is after 34 years that the West Indies have won a bilateral series against Pakistan.

Pakistan's express pacer, Shoaib Akhtar, is known for his voice for the nation's cricket. He has always been expressive about his opinion on what is going on in Pakistan cricket.

Pakistan Succumbed To Jayden Seales' Excellent Spell

The pacer has recently criticised the current Pakistan batters. The opinion from the pacer came after the team failed to chase down 295 runs against the West Indies in the series-decider.

In fact, the Pakistan batting line-up crumbled under pressure. Instead of going close to the target, they were bundled out for just 92 runs in 29.2 overs. The fact was that their top order failed to cope with the lethal opening spell by Jayden Seales.

This is precisely what Shoaib Akhtar has pointed out. On a show called Game On Hain on YouTube, the ex-speedster was heard saying, "Halka sa seam hota hain to musibat pad jaati hain. Rawalpindi pitch lekar nahi ghoom sakte."

Akhtar Did Not Hold Back In Criticising The Pakistan Batters

This jibe from Akhtar was referred to the much-talked-about flight tracks in Pakistan. The Rawalpindi wicket is especially infamous for being a batter's heaven.

Akhtar further drew a comparison of the current team with the players from his era. He was heard saying,

"We used to have expressive and explosive talent, and we played like that. We were never dependent on one individual, everyone chipped in."

"No one used to look for escape routes. The environment has changed, and in the last 10-15 years, everyone has started playing for themselves. Everyone is playing for their averages. The intent should be to win matches for your country," he further added.

The Pakistan team will have a chance to prove Akhtar wrong very soon. They will be in action in a tri-series involving the UAE and Afghanistan in the T20I format. Soon, after that, they will play in the Asia Cup. Winning in these two tournaments might keep their critics quiet for some time. Also, the T20 World Cup 2026 is there for them to prove themselves as a world force in the game soon.
