The County Championship Division One witnessed one remaining fixture producing a result at Taunton. The other four in this round had already come to the conclusion before the final day of the match.
Somerset were at 277/1 at the start of Day 4, with centurions Tom Abell and Tom Lammonby at the crease. However, both the batters made their way back to the hut in quick succession. Then, George Bartlett was dismissed for 17 off 12 as well.
Lewis Gregory remained unbeaten on 29 off 11, to help Somerset finish on 337/4, and set a target of 462 runs.
In response, Northants were at 15/4 in the first eight overs, with the wrecker-in-chief being Craig Overton, taking two wickets and effecting a run-out. Then, Tom Taylor (25) could only emerge as the top contributor with 25 runs, as Northants got bundled out for 109.
Josh Davey scalped three wickets to secure an enormous 352-run victory for Somerset.
