The 19th match of IPL 2025 is turning out to be a difficult game for the home team, SRH, after their poor batting show. They got two quick wickets with the ball, and were in the game in their bid to defend the target of 153, however, Washington Sundar came in and smashed them all over the park to almost kill the game.
Washington Sundar Fiery Knock Ends With Aniket Verma's Low Catch
He deserved to score a fifty, but in the 14th over, Washington Sundar ended up losing his wicket to Shami. It was courtesy a brilliant yet controversial catch from Aniket Verma, and it did create some doubts in GT camp. Their captain Shubman Gill and the batter Washington Sundar did not like the decision, as it was quite a low catch, and replays seemed to suggest unclear evidence of fingers underneath the ball.
It was a short delivery, outside off from Mohammed Shami and Washington Sundar played a fierce cut shot. The ball went aerially towards deep point and Aniket Verma in the deep ran forward and took a sharp catch. The fielder was pretty confident of taking the catch, and started celebrating but the umpires and GT batters were in doubt.
The replays rolled in, and after multiple replays, the third umpire decided that the ball is not grounded, and Washington Sundar was given out. The left-handed batter did not like it and walked back in frustration, while Shubman Gill has an intense discussion with the umpire. He was clearly not happy, but the final decision was made and Sundar had to walk back.
Overall, it did not affect GT's chances, and Rutherford started going after the bowlers right from the onset. They eventually chased down the target in the 17th over, and Shubman Gill stayed unbeaten on 61 off 47 balls.
