Cameron Green takes wicket in Sheffield Shield [Source: @cricketcomau/X.com]
Cameron Green made a solid statement with the ball as he bowled an absolute stunner in the ongoing Sheffield Shield clash between Queensland and Western Australia. The Australian Test all-rounder, returning after reworking his action, is currently undergoing the most gruelling on-field test at the WACA.
These were Green's first overs in competitive cricket after six weeks, as he is eager to secure a spot in the playing XI for the Ashes. Making a strong case for himself, he dismissed Angus Lovell with a beautiful out-swinging delivery that completely beat the batter.
Green makes strong statement with an absolute peach
In the first ball of the 14th over, Cameron Green delivered a fiercely paced good-length ball that just beat the batter's reach, inducing a slight nick on the outside edge as Lovell attempted to defend it, and the catch was comfortably taken at the back by Josh Inglis.
As Green appears to be hitting peak form with the ball, it is important to note that returning as an all-rounder was tough for the Australian prodigy just a few weeks ago.
Green makes comeback after long injury break
Green has been following a long and cautious comeback, having played only as a batter and bowled solely in the nets during the last Shield game. He underwent surgery for his fifth stress fracture in the lower back in October 2024 and returned to Test cricket only during the winter.
With Green demonstrating a neat and tidy line and length with the ball, it is highly probable that the Ashes Test on November 21 will see the 26-year-old taking responsibility in both departments, with the bat as well as the ball, especially in absence of an all-round star like Pat Cummins.
