Cameron Green surged back into some red-ball form with a belligerent 94 against Queensland in match number 12 of the 2025-26 Sheffield Shield season. Batting at number four, the cricketer faced 172 deliveries in the innings, and dispatched eight of them for some cracking boundaries and another for a huge six at the WACA in Perth.

The innings came as a welcome resurgence for Cameron Green, who had endured a couple of underwhelming Sheffield Shield outings last month, coupled with a below-par Test tour of the West Indies in June and July. His composed yet authoritative knock at the WACA served as a timely reminder of his class and temperament, offering a much-needed boost to Australia ahead of the upcoming 2025-26 Ashes series against England at home.

Cameron Green warms up for the 2025-26 Ashes

Cameron Green struck his first half-century of the Sheffield Shield 2025-26 season after enduring a couple of below par outings against New South Wales and South Australia last month. He punched out a fighting 94 from 172 balls with eight fours and a six against Queensland at the WACA in Perth.

His innings pushed Western Australia’s first innings total to 322-7 by 107.3 overs before captain Sam Whitman called for a declaration with 20 overs remaining in the day, and also underlined Green’s return to form just ahead of the Ashes.

It is worth noting that Cameron Green was selected in Australia’s Ashes squad for the series-opener despite his underwhelming returns in red-ball cricket off late. During Australia’s tour of the West Indies back in June and July this year, the all-rounder managed to accrue just 184 runs in six innings at a meagre average of 30.66. Green scored just one half-century in the entire series, a 52 from 123 balls in the second innings of the St George's Test.

Nonetheless, the first Test of the upcoming 2025-26 Ashes series will be played at the Optus Stadium in Perth between November 21 and November 25.
