Kraigg Brathwaite Duck - (Source : @WindiesCricket/X.com)
The ongoing second Test between West Indies and Australia marked a special event for Kraigg Brathwaite as the Windies opener is playing his 100th Test match. The 32-year-old became the 10th player from the Caribbean to play a century of red-ball games.
However, the outing didn't turn out as expected, as Brathwaite registered a duck on this special occasion. The right-handed batter scored an eight-ball duck and joined an unwanted list of cricketers who have scored a duck on their 100th Test match.
Brathwaite Departs For A Duck
Interestingly, while Kraigg is the 10th West Indies player to feature in 100 Test matches, he is also the 10th cricketer overall to score a duck in his 100th Test.
India's Dilip Vengsarkar was the first player to get out for a duck in his 100th Test, against New Zealand in 1988. Since then, eight other cricketers have failed to open their account in their milestone match, with the latest before Brathwaite being India's R Ashwin, who played his 100th Test against England in 2024. Here is the complete list:
