RCB's maiden IPL triumph in 2025 has fundamentally transformed their approach to squad management. No longer the perennial underachievers haunted by near misses, RCB now operates from a position of strength, leveraging their championship pedigree as a key asset in the trade market. The franchise's newfound confidence is evident in their calculated approach to the upcoming trade window, maintaining the core that delivered glory while ruthlessly discarding expensive underperformers who failed to contribute to their historic success.

As defending champions, RCB face the delicate balancing act of preserving their winning formula while addressing tactical deficiencies exposed during their title run. The trade window presents an opportunity to refine rather than revolutionise, with management prioritising cost-effective acquisitions that enhance squad depth and tactical flexibility.

Probable Releases: Clearing Expensive Deadweight

Royal Challengers Bengaluru might look to release several underperforming, expensive players despite their maiden IPL title victory. Liam Livingstone (₹8.75 Cr) tops the release list after managing just 112 runs at an average of 16 with minimal bowling impact. Rashik Salam Dar (₹6 Cr), who played only two matches with one wicket, could be another expensive customer who makes it to the casualty list. These departures alone free up approximately ₹15 Cr for strategic reinvestment.

Target Acquisitions: Strategic Smart Moves

RCB's primary trade targets would be focused on addressing specific tactical needs. Glenn Phillips from the Gujarat Titans emerges as their top priority for middle-order power hitting, bringing finishing strength that Livingstone was expected to provide.

Mukesh Kumar from the Delhi Capitals might be a target to bolster their bowling attack. Local talent Abhinav Manohar can also be on their target list.

The much-discussed Venkatesh Iyer trade from KKR appears less likely given the way Devdutt Padikkal performed during his time in the IPL 2025.

Here is a look at the probable playing XI of RCB if these trade deals go through -
