Fortune Barishal romped to a huge win over Sylhet Strikers in match number 12 of the BPL 2024-25 season at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium. Jahandad Khan and Rishad Hossain played starring roles with the ball before Kyle Mayers delivered the knockout punch to the hosts.

Here’s the timeline of how Sylhet Strikers vs Fortune Barishal panned out at Sylhet:

Strikers vs Barishal Highlights: Munsey, Zakir Hasan Rescue Strikers After Early Jitters

Batting first, Sylhet Strikers lost in-form opener Rony Talukdar for a three-ball duck in the first over of the match to Fortune Barishal’s Kyle Mayers. Talukdar’s opening partner Rahkeem Cornwall punched out four boundaries in his 18-run top-order cameo before the West Indies all-rounder was bested by new ball expert Shaheen Afridi at 27-2 in 4.2 overs.

Zakir Hasan and middle-order batter George Munsey led Sylhet Strikers’ rescue act with a swift 49-run stand for the third wicket. Munsey faced just 13 deliveries and dispatched three of them for sixes to race to 28. Hasan crafted a near run-a-ball 25 from his end as the Strikers reached 76-2 from eight overs.

Strikers vs Barishal Highlights: Jahandad, Rishad Skittle Strikers With Three-Fers

Fortune Barishal fast bowler Jahandad Khan and spinner Rishad Hossain halted Sylhet Strikers’ run-scoring juggernaut with three wickets each to envelop the hosts for just 125 in 18.2 overs. Jahandad dismissed a well-set George Munsey, USA-based Aaron Jones for a duck and cleaned up dangerman Jaker Ali to claim figures of 3-18 from three overs.

Rishad trapped Zakir Hasan, Tanzim Hasan Sakib and Ruyel Miah in his four overs at an expense of just 15 runs, while Faheem Ashraf mopped up the Strikers tail off successive deliveries with the wickets of captain Ariful Haque (36 off 29) and number 11 Al-Amin Hossain.

Strikers vs Barishal Highlights: Barishal Lose Two In Two In Small Chase

Chasing just 126 runs for a win, Fortune Barishal lost both openers within the first two overs of the innings. Captain Tamim Iqbal, fresh off his match-winning 86*, was deceived by Rahkeem Cornwall for a first-ball duck before his partner Najmul Hossain Shanto had a lapse of concentration against Tanzim Hasan Sakib at 6-2 in two overs.

Strikers vs Barishal Highlights: Kyle Mayers Douses Strikers Hopes With 59*

Forming forces at 6-2, Kyle Mayers and number four batter Towhid Hridoy suppressed Sylhet Strikers’ fightback with a match-defining 116-run partnership for the third wicket. Mayers clattered five boundaries and four sixes during his top-scoring act of 59* off 31 balls, while Hridoy smeared 48 from 27 balls before getting cleaned up by Tanzim Hasan Sakib at the brink of victory.

Jahandad Khan at number five notched up the winning runs with a first-ball boundary as the Fortune Barishal sealed the chase with seven wickets and 57 balls to spare.
