Rangpur Riders overwhelmed Sylhet Strikers in match number four at the Sher-e Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur to register their second successive win of the BPL 2024-25 season. Iftikhar Ahmed anchored the Riders innings after a jittery start before Nahid Rana landed the knockout punch to the Strikers with the ball.

Here’s the timeline of how Rangpur Riders vs Sylhet Strikers panned out at Mirpur:

Riders vs Strikers Highlights: Tanzim Hasan, Al-Amin Make The New Ball Count For Strikers

Sylhet Strikers fast bowlers Tanzim Hasan Sakib and Al-Amin Hossain delivered them the early breakthroughs with the wickets of both Rangpur Riders openers, Alex Hales and Steven Taylor respectively. Al-Amin also got the better of number three batter Saif Hassan as the Riders slipped to 28-3 after the first five overs of the match.

Khushdil Shah, a day after unfurling his match-winning all-round heroics for the Riders, failed to get going beyond his 16-ball 21 as his dismissal to Samiullah Shinwari ensured the defending champions reached just 69-4 around the halfway stage of the innings.

Riders vs Strikers Highlights: Explosive 40s From Iftikhar, Nurul Hoist Riders To 155

Rangpur Riders’ Pakistan import Iftikhar Ahmed and captain Nurul Hasan belted explosive 40s each from their ends to enhance their team’s scoring rate in the backend of the innings. Iftikhar top-scored with his calculated 42-ball knock of 47*, while captain Hasan pounded 41 from just 24 balls with four boundaries and two sixes.

Mahedi Hasan also chipped in with an eight-ball 16 at the death before falling to Tanzim Hasan Sakib in the final over as Rangpur Riders charted a competitive 155-6 in their innings.

Riders vs Strikers Highlights: Kamrul Islam And Khushdil Shah Engulf Strikers’ Top 6

Sharing the new ball with Mohammad Saifuddin, Bangladesh fast bowler Kamrul Islam dismissed Sylhet Strikers opener George Munsey off his first ball before conceding 15 runs in an eventful over. Racing to 37-1 after the first four overs, the Strikers had their explosive start hampered by Nahid Rana, who removed well-set batter Zakir Hasan (18 off 12) and newcomer Paul Stirling (5) in the space of just six deliveries.

Opening batter Rony Talukdar led Strikers’ counterattacking recovery in the run-chase with a 48-run partnership with Jaker Ali. Talukdar top-scored with 41 runs from 36 balls, while wicketkeeper Jaker made a cautious 24 off 33 deliveries until both were toppled in quick succession by Khushdil Shah and Nahid Rana respectively.

Shah also had rival captain Ariful Haque out stumped by wicketkeeper Nurul Hasan for a first-ball duck as the Strikers crashed to 99-6 in 15.2 overs.

Riders vs Strikers Highlights: Saifuddin Jolts Strikers Tail And Rana Completes Four

Nahid Rana picked up another wicket in the form of Samiullah Shinwari to complete his four-over spell with astonishing figures of 4-27. New ball paceman Mohammad Saifuddin jolted the tail-end of the Strikers line-up with two quick wickets as the Rangpur Riders claimed a huge 34-run win to make it two in two this BPL 2024-25 season.
