Australia's promising batter Sam Konstas had a memorable outing in the ongoing warm-up match against India at Manuka Oval in Canberra. Opening the batting for Australia Prime Minister's XI, Konstas slammed a blistering century, leaving India stunned with his stroke-play.

Sam Konstas Slams BGT Selection Doors With Flamboyant Ton vs India

After Indian captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and opted to bowl first, Mohammed Siraj asked tough questions to the Aussie openers. Despite losing his opening partner Matt Renshaw, Konstas kept fighting at one end, frustrating the Indian players with his stoic technique.

Interestingly, the highly rated batter counterattacked the Indian bowlers, scoring some priceless runs for his side under challenging circumstances. The right-handed batter stitched a valiant stand with Jack Clayton for the third wicket before Harshit Rana's clinical spell opened the floodgates for PM-XI.

Although the hosts lost a few key wickets in quick succession, Konstas batted excellently on Canberra's seaming pitch, eventually bringing up his hundred. He pushed Ravindra Jadeja's length delivery on the offside and took a single to reach the milestone.

Konstas' Batting Excellence Puts McSweeney's Place Under Threat

The Australian selectors must have followed Sam Konstas' performance in today's warm-up match against India. Considering Nathan McSweeney looked out of sorts against the Indian attack, the hosts might trust Konstas and rope him in for the last three Tests.

Despite his consecutive poor outings in the Perth Test, McSweeney has retained his place in Australia's squad for the Adelaide affair. However, if he doesn't play an impactful knock in the D/N Test, he might be replaced by Konstas for the remaining games.
