Bangladesh and Sri Lanka are set to lock horns in a two-match Test series hosted by the Bengal Tigers. The first Test will be played from November 11 to 15 at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium, with live action starting at 9:30 AM IST.

Bangladesh

Bangladesh will return to Test cricket after a long break, with their recent white-ball form fluctuating. Under the leadership of Najmul Hossain Shanto, the team will rely heavily on spinners Taijul Islam and Mehidy Hasan Miraz to make an impact. Pacers Nahid Rana and Ebadot Hossain are also expected to play key roles, as the Sylhet pitch is known to offer good pace and bounce.

Shanto will lead the batting unit, with Shadman Islam expected to continue his strong form. Experienced campaigners Mominul Haque and Litton Das will add depth to the middle order as Bangladesh aim to clinch victory in the opening match of the two-Test series.

Ireland

Ireland, on the other hand, will enter the series having played only one Test in 2025 and with a comparatively inexperienced squad against Bangladesh. The team will rely on captain Andy Balbirnie, along with seasoned batters Paul Stirling and Harry Tector, to provide stability.

Meanwhile, Curtis Campher, Lorcan Tucker, and Andy McBrine will look to contribute with both bat and ball as Ireland prepare to challenge a slightly underprepared Bangladesh side.

BAN vs IRE head-to-head overview in Tests

Bangladesh and Ireland have played only one Test match to date, and in that match, Bangladesh have emerged as the winner.

Sylhet International Cricket Stadium pitch report

The Sylhet International Cricket Stadium is regarded as a batting-friendly venue for Test matches, offering a balanced contest between bat and ball.

The surface provides even bounce early on, benefiting both batters and seamers. However, as the match progresses, the pitch tends to dry out, assisting spinners with more turn and grip. Given its tendency to deteriorate later, the team winning the toss is likely to opt to bat first.
