The second match of the ongoing three-ODI series between Bangladesh and Afghanistan will take place on Saturday (July 8) at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram, which also hosted the rain-truncated first encounter. Afghanistan eventually prevailed over Bangladesh and won the match by 17 runs via the DLS method, taking a crucial 1-0 lead. 

Team Preview

Bangladesh 

Litton Das will captain Bangladesh, with former skipper Tamim Iqbal announcing a sudden retirement. In the first ODI, almost all top-order batters got starts but failed to convert and faltered against the Afghan spinners.

Rony Talukdar has been drafted into the squad as Iqbal's replacement. Youngster Mohammad Naim is expected to replace Iqbal at the top. With their most experienced player out, the onus will be on the likes of Shakib Al Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim, and Mustafizur Rahim to step up and help the home side level the series.

After a poor start, Afghanistan bowlers came back stronger against Bangladesh batters and restricted them to under 170. Fazhal Farooqi rocked the hosts claiming three wickets, while spinners Rashid Khan and Mujeeb Ur Rahman picked two wickets apiece, strangling them for runs in the middle overs.

Much will depend on Ibrahim Zadran's form, who has been the anchor for Afghanistan, around whom the batting revolves. With the pitch assisting the spinners, Afghanistan will be hopeful that the batters could provide ample support with the experience of Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Rahmat Shah, and Mohammad Nabi in the line-up.
