Champion Australian seamer Pat Cummins once again had the better of his English counterpart in Joe Root as he dismissed the former England captain again on the 2nd morning of the Leeds Test.

It all happened during the 2nd delivery of the 20th over when Cummins dished out a nagging short-of-a-length delivery around the 4th stump region.

Root, who generally guides such deliveries by opening the face of his bat towards the third-man region, failed to do it this time around and ended up edging it to David Warner, who took a sensational catch at 1st slip.

This is not the first time that Cummins has got the better of Joe.

In-fact, this was the 10th instance of the Australian pacer dismissing the former English captain in Test match cricket.

Since coming up head-to-head during the 2017 Ashes in Australia, the current leader of the Aussie bowling attack has delivered 472 balls to Root, and has taken his wicket 10 times at the expense of 226.

No other Test bowler has had a similar kind of success against Root.

Root's dismissal in the early stages of day 02 was just a warning for England about what was about to happen over the course of the next two hours.

The home side lost its second overnight batsman in the form of Jonny Bairstow soon after the Yorkshire cricketer couldn't resist the temptation of driving a full, wide delivery from Mitch Starc and ended up giving catching practice in the cordon.

Then, just as it looked that Moeen Ali and Ben Stokes were calming things down, the latter had another brain fade as he top-edged a short delivery from Cummins straight to Steve Smith at fine-leg.

England lost their 4th wicket of the morning session at the stroke of Lunch after Starc bounced out Chris Woakes. At the time of writing, the hosts were tottering at 199/9, with Stokes still at the crease.
