Bangladesh Women obliterated Pakistan Women in match number three of the Women’s World Cup in Colombo. Fast bowler Marufa Akter and leg-spinner Shorna Akter dashed Pakistan’s batting line-up to hog the limelight with the ball, before Rubya Haider notched up the winning runs for Bangladesh alongside Sobhana Mostary.

Here, we take a look at the entire highlights of the third match of the 2025 Women’s World Cup between Pakistan Women and Bangladesh Women, as it panned out at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Thursday, October 2.

Marufa, Nishita Akter and Shorna blow away Pakistan

Pakistan Women batted first and accrued just 129 in 38.3 overs after opting to bat first. Marufa Akter (2-31) seized Bangladesh’s early advantage by cleaning up both, Pakistan opener Omaima Sohail and number three Sidra Amin for first-ball ducks in the opening over of the match. Muneeba Ali (17 off 35), Rameen Shamim (23 off 39), Aliya Riaz (13 off 43), Sidra Nawaz (15 off 20) and captain Fatima Sana (22 off 33) all failed to convert their starts as the ‘Women in Green’ slipped to 67-5 at one stage of the game.

For Bangladesh, Shorna Akter (3-5) blew away Pakistan’s tail with a quick three-fer, while Nahida Akter (2-19) picked up two key top-order wickets. Nishita Akter Nishi, Fahima Khatun and Rabeya Khan also chipped in with a wicket each.

Rubya Haider anchors Bangladesh’s run-chase

Chasing just 130 for a win, Bangladesh Women lost opener Fargana Hoque for just two in 17 balls in the fourth over of the innings. Sharmin Akhter at number three also failed to get going as her threatening stay was halted by Rameen Shamim for 10 off 30 balls.

However, Rubya Haider compiled an elegant 54* in 77 balls with eight boundaries, and conjured a 62-run partnership with captain Nigar Sultana (23 off 44) to ensure Bangladesh’s smooth sailing. While Sultana was dismissed by her Pakistani counterpart Fatima Sana, Haider steered Bangladesh past the finish line by crafting a 34-run partnership with Sobhana Mostary (24* off 19) with seven wickets and nearly 19 overs to spare.
