In an ongoing Women's World Cup match between Bangladesh women and Pakistan women, the latter registered an unwanted record to their name. Batting first in the crucial match at Colombo, Pakistan folded for a paltry 129 after the opposition bowlers ran riot with the ball.
Bangladesh women shock Pakistan women with top-class bowling performance
It turned out to be a poor outing for the Pakistan women's side in the ongoing 2025 Women's World Cup at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, where they were dismissed for just 129 on the back of some excellent bowling from the Tigers women's lineup. Omaima Sohail and Sidra Amin departed for golden ducks in the very first over, while Rameen Shamim was the top scorer for the Pakistan side with just 23 runs to her name.
Apart from her, only skipper Fatima Sana could reach 22 runs, whereas none of the other batters could even cross the 20-run mark.
From the bowling lineup, Shorna Akter bowled excellent figures of 3 for 5 in her 3.3 overs. At the same time, Nahida Akter and Marufa Akter bagged two wickets apiece to help Bangladesh restrict Pakistan to just 129 in 38.3 overs, a score that looked largely under par.
Thanks to this score, Bangladesh women registered an outstanding record, as this 129 by Pakistan women is the lowest ever scored against them in a World Cup game. Previously, 149 was the lowest score ever achieved by the West Indies women in the 2022 Women's World Cup game, which took place at Mount Maunganui.
