Pakistan batting veteran Babar Azam, mere days after powering Rangpur Riders to an emphatic win against Sylhet Strikers, is now gearing up for his side’s subsequent BPL 2024 challenge against table-toppers Khulna Tigers. On January 25, i.e., a day prior to Rangpur Riders third match of the tournament, Babar shared a picture of himself training in the nets in a practice session.

Babar Azam preps for next BPL 2024 stalemate

Babar Azam was spotted wearing Rangpur Riders’ training jersey in the nets for a training session a day prior to his side’s much-awaited standoff against table-toppers Khulna Tigers. The legendary Pakistan cricketer took to X (formerly Twitter) and simply wrote “preppin”, thus setting up his fans for a potential batting masterclass in Sylhet.

While Babar Azam missed out from Rangpur Riders’ opening match of the BPL 2024 season against Fortune Barishal owing to national commitment in New Zealand, the cricketer made a cut into the playing XI for their next match against Sylhet Strikers on January 23.

As it turned out, the elegant right-handed batsman made his opportunity count by punching out a match-winning 56* from just 49 balls. His partnership with Azmatullah Omarzai guided Rangpur Riders to a comfortable four-wicket win in Mirpur, after they were reduced to 39-6 at one stage of the game.

Babar belted six boundaries in his fluent knock, and will be aiming to carry the same momentum when he takes field for his side in their subsequent BPL 2024 challenge. The cricketer entered the tournament in Bangladesh off the back of a series of substandard scores for Pakistan across all formats.
