Ahead of the third and final Test against Pakistan at Sydney tomorrow, skipper Pat Cummins has revealed Australia's unchanged playing XI.

The Sydney Test will see Australia field the same XI for the third consecutive time in the series, having played with the same set of players in Perth and Melbourne.

As quoted by CricketAustralia, Cummins stated that the pace bowling trio have managed their workload well, and thus team management did not feel the need to make any changes.

Here's what Cummins said

“Even the way this summer is spread out a bit more, there’s two Tests on, then a bit of a gap; then two Tests, then a bit of a gap; then New Zealand. We’ll give it a chance. It’s all gone pretty smoothly so far,"

The Sydney Test will also be opener David Warner's final red-ball match, having announced his retirement plans ahead of the series.

Interestingly, Warner also announced his One-Day International (ODI) retirement on Monday (January 1), having last played in the World Cup 2023 Final, which Australia won.

Despite Sydney generally offering spin-friendly tracks, CA named a changed Australian squad from the Melbourne Test, sidelining ideas of a second spinner altogether.

Australia have already gained an unassailable 2-0 lead over Pakistan, winning both Perth and Boxing Day Tests in emphatic manners, and will look to finish the series and give Warner a perfect sendoff with a win.

Australia's next assignment will be a two-Test series against the visiting West Indies, which starts on January 17

Australia XI

David Warner, Usman Khawaja, Marnus Labuschagne, Steve Smith, Travis Head, Mitch Marsh, Alex Carey (wk), Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins (c), Nathan Lyon, and Josh Hazlewood.
