David Warner, one of the greatest batters of modern era who was the pillar of Australian batting line-up for more than a decade has announced his ODI retirement. He is set to retire from Test cricket as well after the SCG Test against Pakistan and it would surely be a big loss for Australia.

Warner was brilliant in the recently held ODI Cricket World Cup held in India which Australia won and delivered some big performances. It was expected that he would at least carry on till 2025 Champions Trophy in ODI format but unfortunately, for cricket fans, he has decided to move on and concentrate on T20 format.

Warner now has revealed the toughest bowler he has played in his career. He has gone with Dale Steyn and applauded the former Proteas pacer as a world class bowler. He recalled the WACA Test against South Africa in 2016-17 home summer and stated that Shaun Marsh and he had a tough time facing him as an opener.

"Without doubt, it is Dale Steyn. I go back to the WACA (the first Test of the 2016-17 home series against South Africa) when me and Shaun Marsh had to go out for an ugly 45-minute session. Shaun came down to me and said, 'I cannot pull him so I do not know how we are going to go about facing him'," recalled David Warner while speaking to cricket.com.au.

Warner also claimed that Steyn broke Marsh's shoulder with his fierce bowling and his ability to swung the ball into the left-hander was special. Warner also added that Steyn never gave you smile and an inch as a batter and was the toughest bowler he faced in his career.

"He put me on my backside and I think he broke his shoulder as well that game. He is a fierce competitor who swung the ball back into the left-hander, which is similar to Mitchell Starc swinging the ball back into the right-hander at pace. He was always a fiery customer who never gave you a smile and never gave you an inch or a sniff on the field," recalled the batter.

David Warner will continue to play T20Is and for T20 franchises in the future but will surely go down as one of the greatest Aussie all-format batter.
