Brief Scores | Australia (1st innings): 487 all-out (113.2 overs) [David Warner: 164 (211), Mitchell Marsh: 90 (107); Aamer Jamal 6/111 (20.2), Khurram Shahzad 2/83 (22)] led Pakistan (1st innings): 152/2 (53 overs) [Abdullah Shafique: 42 (121), Imam-ul-Haq: 38* (136); Nathan Lyon 1/40  (13), Mitchell Starc 1/24 (12)] by 355 runs at Stumps on Day 2

Australia, despite Aamer Jamal's heroics with the ball, have managed to maintain their advantage in the ongoing Perth Test of the three-match series against Pakistan at Stumps on Day 2, which led into a riveting Day 3.

Mitchell Marsh Steals Limelight in First Session

Day 2 started with Mitchell Marsh and Alex Carey building on their overnight stand and pushing Australia past the 400-run mark. The duo notched up 50 runs in 95 balls for the sixth wicket before a jaffa from debutant Aamer Jamal knocked over Carey for 34.

Marsh completed his sixth Test fifty in 66 deliveries before cutting loose. Jamal continued his impressive run, claiming his fourth wicket in the form of Mitchell Starc. The explosive all-rounder tore into Pakistan's pace attack, heading into lunch on 90 with the hosts nearing the 500-run target.

It was all Pakistan in the second session of play, where debutant Khurram Shahzad got rid of Marsh as Jamal's exhibition began.

The 27-year-old cleaned up the likes of Pat Cummins and Nathan Lyon in no time, picking up a stellar fifer on Test debut and finishing with figures of 6 for 111 as Australia folded for 487.

Openers Abdullah Shafique and Imam-ul-Haq stonewalled Australian bowlers and managed to survive disciplined bowling, meandering Pakistan into Tea with all ten wickets intact.

Australia Gain Upper Hand Heading Into Day 3

The final session began with some intent from Pakistan batters, especially Shafique, who, unlike Haq, played his shots whenever presented a chance. The duo brought up their 50-run stand in 156 balls.

Australia's premier spinner, Nathan Lyon, drew first blood for Australia, getting rid of the well-set Shafique for a 121-ball 42, which included six fours.

Skipper Shah Masood joined Haq in the middle and kicked off his innings in an aggressive fashion. Haq continued to play the role of an anchor as the pair added 49 runs before a final burst from Starc got the better of Masood, who edged a simple caught behind to Carey for 30.

With few overs remaining, Pakistan sent out Shahzad as nightwatchman. Haq (38*) and Shahzad (7*) played out the last 20 minutes safely, as Pakistan at Stumps on Day 2 finished on 132 for 2, still trailing Australia by 355 runs.
