In a one-sided contest, Stallions beat Markhors to win the Pakistan Champions T20 Cup 2024 title. Batting first, the Stallions posted 199 runs on the board. Meanwhile, Markhors succumbed under pressure as Muhammad Faizan [43 (33)] failed to find support from the other end. Markhors lagged 75 runs short as Stallions lifted the prized trophy.

Here's how Stallions vs Markhors panned out in Rawalpindi:

AST vs UMA Final Highlights: Yasir Khan’s ton steers Stallions to a convincing total

On the eve of the finals, Stallions opted to bat first against Markhors. However, their start was rocky in the powerplay. Akif Javed drew first blood to remove Maaz Ahmed Sadaqat in the third over. Skipper Haris added 21 runs off 15 balls but his blazing start was cut short by Mohammad Nawaz. Hussain Talat’s wicket in the 10th over made things difficult for Stallions before Yasir Khan unleashed his inner beast.

He took all bowlers to the cleaners and rammed seven sixes and five boundaries to slam a blazing century. Yasir hit 100 off 57 balls at a 175.44 strike rate to steer Stallions to a convincing total of 199/5 at the end of the first 20 overs.

AST vs UMA Highlights: Markhors failed to build partnerships

UMT Markhors suffered an early blow in a steep chase when Khawaja Nafay misused a reverse sweep against Mohammad Ali to hole out to Abrar Ahmed. With a big jolt in the powerplay, Fakhar Zaman and Muhammad Faizan stitched a 25-run odd partnership before Jahandad ripped off his stumps on the final delivery of the powerplay.

Faizan was the game-changing wicket for Stallions. Batting at 43 off 33, Faizan mistimed a slog sweep, and Haris caught the top edge comfortably to leave Markhors reeling at 84/4.

AST vs UMA: Stallions crowned champions after Makhors suffer collapse

Markhors suffered a humiliating lower-order collapse where wickets fell in a bunch. Captain Iftikhar Ahmed scored 22 off 21 balls, but the 104.76 strike rate wasn’t good enough for the challenging chase. Saad Masood was dismissed off a duck before the tail also surrendered.

For Stallions, Usman Tariq was sensational as he clipped two dismissals and leaked just 10 runs in his four-over spell. Mohammad Ali and Jahandad Khan were equally impressive and impactful. Eventually, the Markhors fell 75 runs short in the chase as Stallions were crowned champions of the Pakistan Champions T20 Cup 2024.
