Pakistan spinner Nashra Sandhu bagged the all-important wicket of India’s Jemimah Rodrigues in their blockbuster Women’s World Cup showdown in October 2025. Sandhu’s breakthrough moment also helped her level up with former cricketer Sana Mir to become one of Pakistan’s most successful bowlers in Women’s World Cup history.
Celebrating Nashra Sandhu’s latest landmark, here is a look at four of Pakistan’s highest wicket-takers in Women’s World Cup matches.
4. Nida Dar – 11 wickets
Pakistan off-spinner Nida Dar nabbed 11 wickets in her 10 Women’s World Cup outings for the Pakistan cricket team. Having made her international debut in May 2010, the all-rounder was selected in Pakistan’s Women World Cup team for the first time in 2013. She made her return to the tournament a decade later, this time as Pakistan vice-captain in 2022. In more than 67 overs spanning 10 innings, Nida Dar maintained a slightly expensive bowling average of 29.81 with an economy rate of 4.84.
3. Diana Baig – 13 wickets
Pakistan fast bowler Diana Baig picked up her 12th Women’s World Cup wicket in the form of Indian skipper Harmanpreet Kaur in match number six of the 2025 edition of the tournament at Colombo’s R. Premadasa Stadium. To date, the speedster has played 14 out of her 67 ODI games within the confinement of the World Cup, and has conceded runs at an average of 36.92 per wicket, with an economy rate of slightly lower than five (4.93 to be exact). Overall, with 13 wickets in her first 14 Women’s World Cup innings between 2017 and 2025, Diana Baig has emerged as one of Pakistan’s leading wicket-takers in ODI cricket’s grandest event.
2. Sana Mir – 17 wickets
Former Pakistan cricketer Sana Mir collected 17 wickets in her Women’s World Cup career at an average of 36.11. The seasoned off-spinner played 18 games in three different editions between the years 2009 and 2017. While Sana’s World Cup bowling average of 36.11 marked significantly higher than her career average of 24.27, she maintained an impressive economy rate of 3.89 in the tournament. Her magnum opus World Cup performance occurred back in 2017, i.e., in her final World Cup campaign, doing so against Australia Women at Leicester with impressive figures of 3-49.
1. Nashra Sandhu – 17 wickets
Pakistan left-arm spinner Nashra Sandhu has picked up 17 wickets for her country in the grand stage of the Women’s ODI World Cup, doing so in just 15 innings at an average of 35.11. She levelled up with former cricketer Sana Mir by getting rid of a well-set Jemimah Rodrigues in the high-octane India vs Pakistan clash of the 2025 Women’s World Cup in Colombo. Ever since her World Cup debut back in 2017 in England at a tender age of 19, Sandhu has maintained an economy of just 4.92, thus signifying her penchant of strangulating opposition’s run-flow on occasions.
