India A are up against Australia A in the second unofficial Test and now find themselves in all sorts of trouble with visitors putting up a strong all-round performance. Australia A scored 420 with the bat, and now, in reply, their bowlers have dominated, reducing India A to 164 for eight in no time.

The tormentor-in-chief has been Henry Thornton. The 6ft 2inch right-arm fast bowler picked three big wickets of N Jagadeesan, Devdutt Padikkal and Dhruv Jurel to break the backbone of India A. He then removed Mohammed Siraj as well and is an exciting fast bowler born in Kogarah, New South Wales who has represented Australia at the U19 level.

Adelaide Strikers Star Shows His Red-Ball Credentials In India

The pacer made his first-class debut in 2024 for South Australia against Victoria and has been quite impressive since then. He was long considered as a white-ball specialist and has emerged as a genuine wicket-taker in limited-overs cricket with 54 and 49 List A and T20 scalps.

In BBL, he has emerged as a crucial member of the Adelaide Strikers unit and has an average of less than 20 with one fifer and two four-wicket hauls. After an impressive Sheffield Shield season, the pacer got an opportunity to play two Tests against Sri Lanka in Darwin. He picked four wickets in those Tests, and now, after missing the first Test against India A, he has shown his talent with a three-fer in the first innings of the second Test. Before the India A Test, Thornton had 21 first-class wickets in six matches at an average of 23.95.

Henry Thornton is known for his ability to move the new ball and can notch up speeds in excess of 140. He is a genuine wicket-taker who bowls lines close to the stumps, and this ability has helped him fetch a lot of wickets over the years. He would now be looking to continue his good start against India A and stake his claim for a spot in the senior Australian side as well.
