England batter Joe Root on Saturday, July 29, achieved an astounding feat during Day 3 of the ongoing fifth Test of the Ashes 2023 against Australia at The Oval. Root, who narrowly missed out on his century after getting dismissed on 91, helped England score 395 runs in their second innings and take a lead of 384 runs.
With this knock, the former captain of England reached 412 runs in the ongoing series, matching the iconic Sachin Tendulkar's record of most 300+ runs in a series.
Root has now scored 300+ in a series for the 19th time, which places him ahead of illustrious names like Rahul Dravid and Brian Lara, and ties him with legendary Tendulkar in the elite list.
