A lot of drama has unfolded in the past few hours as Pakistan, who were set to travel to the stadium, were asked to stay back at the hotel after the ICC rejected their demand to remove Andy Pycroft as the match referee.
However, in the latest events, it is understood that the PCB held an internal meeting and have given a nod to play the UAE match. The game will now be played at 9:00 pm IST, but a lot of chatter is around who the match referee will be for the upcoming clash.
Who Is The Match Referee For Pakistan vs UAE Match?
Earlier in the day, there were reports that Richie Richardson would replace Andy Pycroft, but Andy Pycroft would continue to be the match referee despite protests and boycott threats from the Pakistan team and the PCB.
Several images have also floated on the internet that the former Zimbabwe cricketer has already arrived at the stadium and is all set to officiate in the match.
Why Did PCB Demand Pycroft To Be Removed From the Asia Cup?
The issue began during India vs Pakistan Asia Cup match, where PCB claims that the match referee Andy Pycroft had asked both captains to not shake hands. The decision did not go well with the PCB and they asked the ICC to remove him from rest of the tournament.
However, the International Cricket Council (ICC) didn't adhere to PCB's request as they didn't find Pycroft guilty of breaking any rules and regulations.
