The Asia Cup 2025 has turned into a mockery, with Pakistan unable to come to a final decision regarding their mega clash against the UAE at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. A small handshake row was turned into an unnecessary controversy by the Men in Green, and the latest being their decision to pull out of the marquee event.

It seems like Pakistan failed to digest their loss against India on Sunday, and when Suryakumar Yadav and his men decided not to shake hands with Pakistan players, the team took it personally and threatened to pull out of the event.

A few hours before the start of the Pakistan vs the UAE match, it was reported that the Men in Green have been advised by their team management to stay in the team hotel, as they didn’t arrive on time for the mega clash. The term “boycott” circulated everywhere as it looked like the team might not play the remainder of the tournament. However, Pakistan took a U-turn and decided to continue playing in Asia Cup 2025.

The team eventually boarded their team bus, and as per the latest reports, they decided not to boycott the event, and the real reason has finally been revealed as to why Pakistan changed their minds.

As per reports by Senior NDTV Editor, Aditya Raj Kaul, Pakistan would have had to pay USD 16 million had they boycotted the entire Asia Cup 2025 event. As per the ICC rules, a team cannot pull out of a marquee cricketing event without a solid reason. 

Pakistan filed an official complaint against match referee, Andy Pycroft, for supporting India, but ICC rejected the plea, and this was one of the key reasons as to why the nation threatened to pull out, a decision they had to rethink due to the hefty amount involved.
