Afghanistan decimated Pakistan in the fourth match of the T20I tri-series to make amends for their opening defeat last week. The outcome also took them a step closer to qualifying for the final.
Here, we take a look at the entire highlights of the fourth match of the UAE T20I tri-series 2025 between Pakistan and Afghanistan, as it panned out at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium in Sharjah on Tuesday, September 2.
Ibrahim Zadran, Atal 60s Fuel Afghanistan’s 169
Batting first after winning the toss, Afghanistan lost opening batter Rahmanullah Gurbaz for just eight to Saim Ayub in the second over of the match. Fellow opener Sediqullah Atal and number three Ibrahim Zadran subsequently forged a counterattacking 113-run stand for the second wicket from just 80 balls to blaze Afghanistan past the 100-run mark. Atal slapped three boundaries and three sixes in his 45-ball 64 before falling to Faheem Ashraf.
The Pakistani paceman also accounted for Zadran a couple of overs later in the innings for 65 in 45 balls with eight regal boundaries and a maximum. Wickets tumbled at the death, with Faheem Ashraf claiming sensational figures of 4-27, however, Afghanistan still managed to cart a competitive 169-5 from 20 overs.
Farooqi Jolts Pakistan Early Before Teammates Chip In
Premium Afghanistan fast bowler Fazalhaq Farooqi dismissed both Pakistani openers, Sahibzada Farhan and Saim Ayub, within his opening spell inside the powerplay. Fakhar Zaman at number three chipped in with a handy 18-ball 25 during his brief 33-run partnership with captain Agha Salman. However, both well-set batters made their way back to the sheds in quick succession courtesy of Mohammad Nabi and a runout.
Nabi also dismissed Mohammad Haris and completed 100 wickets in his T20I career, while fellow spinners Noor Ahmad (2-20) and Rashid Khan (2-30) chipped in with two wickets each. Haris Rauf bludgeoned four sixes in his fiery cameo of 34* from 16 balls, but his late pyro techniques merely kept Pakistan’s defeat margin down to 18 runs as they reached 151-9 in their 20 overs.
