Nepal fast bowler Rashid Khan racked up a couple of huge bowling records against Afghanistan in the Pool A match of the Hong Kong International Sixes 2025 at the Mission Road Ground in Mong Kok. The speedster wrecked Afghanistan’s batting order in his two-over spell, picking up four wickets at an expense of 27 runs.
Rashid Khan also picked up a hat-trick in the process to mark the first ever hat-trick in the history of Hong Kong Sixes tournament. Moreover, his figures of 4-27 now read the best-ever in the competition.
Rashid Khan creates history, but fails to lead Nepal to victory
Rashid Khan dismissed Afghanistan captain and international star Gulbadin Naib within the first over of his spell. The speedster also got the better of Sediqullah Pacha, Sharafuddin Ashraf and Ijaz Ahmad Ahmadzai in successive deliveries of his second over to claim a historic hat-trick, the first in the history of the Hong Kong International Sixes competition.
Moreover, Rashid Khan might well have snared four wickets in four deliveries, if he had not started out his second over with a wide. By recording figures of 4-27 in the game, the 24-year-old now holds the best bowling figures in a single Hong Kong International Sixes innings, beating Sri Lanka’s Konganige Tharindu Hasanka Ratnayake’s previous record of 4-33 in his two overs.
