The Irish all-rounder Curtis Campher has created history in a domestic T20 game by picking up five wickets in as many balls for his side. In the 23rd match of Cricket Ireland's inter-provincial T20 Trophy, Campher achieved the feat while playing for Munster Reds against North-West Warriors.
Curtis Campher Leads Munster Reds To Big Win Over Warriors
The five wickets by Campher were taken across two overs. Firstly, two wickets were taken on the final two balls of the 12th over, and then he took a hat-trick in the 14th over to pull off an unimaginable feat. As a result, the Warriors were bowled out for just 88 in their run chase of 189 and Munster won the game comfortably.
Campher started with the wicket of Jared Wilson, who departed for a duck, while Hume was sent back on the last ball of the same over. In the next over, he removed well-set Andy McBrine while Robbie Millar and Josh Wilson were his fourth and fifth wickets respectively. Thus, Campher became the first man in professional cricket to pick five wickets in five balls.
Curtis Campher Back At His Best After Finger Injury
Curtis Campher ended with figures of 5 for 16 in his 2.3 overs, and his comeback trail after a finger injury is moving in the right direction. The all-rounder missed the T20I and ODI series against West Indies recently, but now is back at his best and is delivering with both bat and ball in domestic cricket.
Interestingly, Curtis Campher also has four wickets in four balls at the international level. He achieved that feat against the Netherlands in the 2021 T20 World Cup and is one of the main assets for Ireland because of his all-round skills. Ireland are scheduled to play three ODIs against England in September, and Curtis Campher is expected to make his international comeback in that series.
