Mohammad Nabi slapped a 20-ball half-century against Sri Lanka in the final Group B match of the 2025 Men’s T20 Asia Cup. The senior all-rounder launched three boundaries and six huge sixes in his counterattacking innings, and blazed Afghanistan towards a competitive total in their must-win game against hitherto Group B table-toppers.

Apart from staging Afghanistan’s fightback, Mohammad Nabi also notched up a huge Asia Cup record, joining fellow national colleague and beating Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav in the process.

Batting at number seven for Afghanistan in their must-win Group B match against Sri Lanka in Abu Dhabi, seasoned campaigner Mohammad Nabi clattered three boundaries and six maximums to slap 60 runs off just 22 balls. The cricketer raced to a 20-ball half-century in the process, and flogged Sri Lankan left-arm spinner Dunith Wellalage for five successive sixes in a 32-run final over of the innings as Afghanistan charted 169-8 in 20 overs.

Notably, Mohammad Nabi also notched up the joint-fastest half-century in the history of T20 Asia Cup, levelling up with fellow Afghanistan international Azmatullah Omarzai for his 20-ball fifty against Hong Kong earlier in the ongoing tournament itself.
