The Asia Cup 2025 controversy is refusing to slow down, and the handshake saga almost took a dramatic turn on Wednesday, September 17, as Pakistan nearly decided to pull out of the tournament over the ICC's refusal to remove Andy Pycroft as match referee.

After the ploy to remove the match referee didn't succeed, the PCB has now turned their eye towards India captain Suryakumar Yadav. Ahead of Pakistan's Super Four clash against India on Sunday, September 21, reports suggest that the PCB is mulling lodging an official complaint against Suryakumar Yadav for his political remarks during post-match presentations.

Notably, after India's win over Pakistan, SKY dedicated the win to the Pahalgam victims and also thanked India's armed forces. Now, the PCB is looking to create an issue out of the matter as ICC has prohibited making political remarks on the field.

Amid the PCB's threat to Suryakumar Yadav, this article will shed light on the instances when Pakistan players used the cricket ground to send a political message.

1. Mohammad Rizwan's Message For Gaza During 2023 WC

During the 2023 World Cup, Pakistan travelled to India for the prestigious fifty-over event. Pakistan locked horns against Sri Lanka in Hyderabad, where Rizwan slammed a century and helped the Men in Green complete a historic run-chase.

Following the win, Rizwan dedicated the victory to the people in Gaza, and his political remarks didn't go well with the cricket lovers.

"This was for our brothers and sisters in Gaza. Happy to contribute to the win. Credit to the whole team and especially Abdullah Shafique and Hassan Ali for making it easier," wrote Rizwan on a Twitter post.

2. Aamir Jamal's Support For Former Pakistan PM Imran Khan

During England's tour to Pakistan in 2024, in the Multan Test, Pakistan's forgotten hero Aamir Jamal came under scrutiny after he wore a hat numbered '804'. It created a lot of stir on social media as the number represented former Pakistan PM Imran Khan's prison number.

Jamal had to face serious consequences for his action, as he was fined PKR 1.4 million (approximately USD 4,000) by the PCB for violating the board's regulations.

Further, Jamal has been out of the team since then and failed to get a place in tournaments like the Asia Cup and Champions Trophy.
