Washington Sundar is just 25 years old, and with each passing series, he is proving himself as a reliable all-rounder for India in the purest format of the game. In the ongoing five-match Test series against England, he has delivered some crucial performances with both bat and ball, and has continued that in the Oval Test.

In the second innings with the bat, the batter has played a blistering knock of 53 from just 46 balls to pin down England on a tough batting deck. He walked out to bat at number 7, and after a brief stand with Ravindra Jadeja, unleashed his full might on English bowlers.

The left-handed batter hit four fours and as many sixes in his knock and got to his fifty with a maximum as well. It was the 87th over of the innings, and on the third ball, Washington Sundar got a boundary courtesy a thick outside edge. On the next ball, he played a strong pull shot and, then tonked Gus Atkinson over deep mid-wicket to reach his fifty in just 39 balls.

It was quite an onslaught from the Indian all-rounder, and he eventually perished in the next over. His power-hitting helped India set England a target of 374, and it would be a record run-chase from the home team if they manage to get over the line.

Along with Sundar, Ravindra Jadeja, and Akash Deep also scored fifties in the second innings while Yashasvi Jaiswal hammered his sixth Test hundred. It has helped India get to a massive total of 396 in the second innings, and England have a tough task in front of them now.

The home team is currently leading the series by a 2-1 margin, and a win for the visitors will help them draw their second consecutive Test series in England.
