India and England are in the middle of the final Test of the five-match series. India are dominating the game courtesy of a century by Yashasvi Jaiswal in the second innings, and if the visitors win the match, they would level the series.
KL Rahul And Yashasvi Jaiswal Step Up In English Conditions
The Shubman Gill-led young Indian unit has fought quite hard throughout the series, and one of the main reasons for it is the success of their openers. Both KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal have scored crucial runs at the top of the order, negotiating the new ball threat in English conditions.
As a result, the duo is now just the second opening pair for India to score 400 runs individually in a single Test series KL Rahul scored a total of 532 runs, while Yashasvi Jaiswal scored 411 runs. Also, both of them have scored two centuries in the series and have led a strong platform for other batters to capitalise.
Interestingly, in the 2024 tour of England to India, Yashasvi Jaiswal scored 712 runs while the other opener, Rohit Sharma had 400 runs in his kitty. They were the first Indian opening pair to achieve that feat of scoring 400 runs individually, and just a year later, Yashasvi has managed to do it with Rohit Sharma.
Two Indian openers scoring 400+ runs in a Test series
- Yashasvi Jaiswal (712) And Rohit Sharma (400) - ENG Tour Of IND 2024
- KL Rahul (532) And Yashasvi Jaiswal (411) - IND Tour Of ENG 2025
Thus, Indian openers have been doing quite well against England lately, and it has helped them win matches against Ben Stokes and company. India would be hoping that the hardwork of their openers pays off at the Oval and they end the series on a high.
