Ishan Kishan was at his powerful best during the Syed Mushtaq Ali game between Jharkhand and Uttarakhand on Thursday. His battle against Naveen Kumar Singh in the second over of the second innings was at centre stage in this match.

Kishan took on the attack from the start as he stepped out on the second ball of the over to play an aggressive shot for a four. He followed it up with a smart cut shot for another four on the off side.

He then followed it up with two sixes in the fine-leg region to take the over total to 20 runs. However, he played one attacking shot too many and gave away his wicket on the final ball of the over.

Naveen bowled a slot ball and followed Kishan. The latter mistimed the shot and handed the catch straight into the hands of the fielder on mid-on. His quick start was important to the chase, but he would have hoped to stay for a bit longer in the middle.

Jharkhand restrict Uttarakhand to chasable score in first innings

Earlier in the game, Jharkhand had a great start with the ball as well. They took the wickets of the openers early on in the innings, which put Uttarakhand on the backfoot.

However, skipper Kunal Chandel stabilised the innings with his 42-ball 55. Avnish Sudha also played a short cameo of 32 runs to help the side to a decent score of 150 runs. However, on a good batting wicket at the Narendra Modi Stadium Ground A in Ahmedabad, this score was at least 30 runs below par.

Jharkhand are already at the top of the Elite Group D with four wins in as many games, and a win here would extend their lead even further. Uttarakhand, on the other hand, have only managed one win in this season.
