Former Paskitan captain Babar Azam went past the legendary Shahid Afridi on Saturday in the list of Pakistan players with the most international catches to their name.

He achieved the feat as Pakistan faced Sri Lanka in the final of the T20 Tri-Series in Rawalpindi, grabbing a fine catch on the long-off boundary to dismiss the dangerous Kusal Mendis off Mohammad Nawaz.

The incident took place at the 10.3 over mark, when Mendis looked to break the shackles by jumping down the track after a slow start, trying to rescue his team from a precarious situation, but found Babar, who got off balance for a moment but did not step on the rope.

With this catch, Babar became the Pakistan fielder with 3rd most international catches, behind Younis Khan and Inzamam-ul-Haq.

As things stand in the final, Pakistan have dismantled the Lankans, with 114/9 on the board in 19 overs and look in a firm position to clinch the tri-series title. So far, Babar has scored 90 runs in 4 innings of the competition, and once again, all eyes will be on him in the chase, as the men in green continue to prepare for the T20 World Cup.
