Swashbuckling Australian batter Glenn Maxwell mesmerised the spectators with his stroke play, hammering a belligerent hundred in the eighth Major League Cricket (MLC) 2025 encounter between Washington Freedom and Los Angeles Knight Riders. Coming at number six, Maxwell struck 106 unbeaten runs off just 49 balls, powering Washington to a massive total of 208 runs.

Maxwell Becomes First No. 6 Batter To Slam A Ton In MLC

After winning the toss and opting to bat first, Washington Freedom had a shaky start, losing four crucial wickets for 68 runs inside eight overs. However, Maxwell's entry changed the scenario completely, as the talismanic all-rounder blasted his way through to a memorable ton.

He smashed two boundaries and thirteen huge sixes, remaining unbeaten on 106 at the end of 20 overs. Thus, the Australian cricketer became the first-ever number six batter to slam a century in MLC history.

Maxwell Registers Joint Second Most Sixes In A MLC Innings

As soon as Glenn Maxwell smashed his 13th six, he equalled Nicholas Pooran on the list of batters with the most sixes in an innings in MLC. Finn Allen tops the chart with 19 sixes, which he recently struck in the 2025 season opener against Washington Freedom.

Maxwell's valiant knock ensured a huge total for the Freedom, as they eventually secured a whopping 113-run win by restricting the Knight Riders to a paltry 95-run total. Jack Edwards and Mitchell Owen bagged three wickets each, while Saurabh Netravalkar scalped two wickets for just six runs in 3.3 overs.

With this win, Washington Freedom consolidated their third position, adding two crucial points to their tally.
