The Mongolia cricket team collapsed for just 10 runs against Singapore in the 14th match of the 2024 ICC Men's T20 World Cup Asia Qualifier A. As many as five batters fell for ducks, four players managed just a run while the remaining two cricketers top-scored with two runs each. Notably, Singapore bowlers conceded two of those runs, i.e., 10 percent of the innings total, through wides.

Mongolia’s painful batting mishap now marks the joint-lowest total in the history of men’s T20I cricket. As one can expect, Singapore won the match within just one over of their run-chase at the YSD-UKM Cricket Oval in Bangi.

Gone for 10 in 10 overs, Mongolia’s mishap attains new low

Being invited to bat first at the YSD-UKM Cricket Oval, Mongolia lost two of their top three batters for ducks in just the opening over of the match to 17-year-old Singapore leg-spinner Harsha Bharadwaj. The youngster added four more wickets to his tally off his next three overs to snare career-best T20I figures of 3-6. Remarkably, Bharadwaj delivered two maidens in his four-over opening spell and conceded two of his three runs via wides.

Bowlers Akshay Puri (2-4), Rahul Sheshadri (1-2) and Ramesh Kalimuthu (1-1) also chipped in with key wickets to bundle out the entirety of Mongolia batting line-up for just 10 runs in 10 overs. The innings marked the joint-lowest T20I total in men’s history, levelling up with Isle of Man’s 10-run effort against Spain back in February 2023.

Notably, Team Mongolia was also skittled for scores like 12 and 17 this year itself against Japan and Hong Kong respectively. After Mongolia’s latest batting mishap, here is a look at four of the lowest totals ever recorded in men’s T20I history.
