NZ VS PAK LIVE SCORE (AP Photo)
NZ vs PAK: Pakistan win by 21 Runs (DLS)!
Alright Folks! Qudrat ka Nizam they say, very well say. To this, we hope that the other game going on between England and Australia goes down the wire and of course, turns out to be a full game unlike this one. Switch the tabs because from my end, it's a wrap! See you soon. Enjoy your Day!
Fakhar Zaman's 126* run super show saved the day for Pakistan and what we saw today was very unlikely that a team lost the game after putting up 400 runs on the board. Babar Azam's men would be breathing a sigh of relief whereas Kane Williamson's boys would be thinking what's going wrong as they succumb to their fourth consecutive defeat in the World Cup.
Babar and Fakhar stitched a valuable 194* run partnership for second wicket and that was enough for them to get through.
New Zealand stay on fourth position with 8 points while Pakistan rises up to fifth place with 8 points only. Afghanistan and Australia are there too sharing eight points as well and that makes things a hell lot interesting.
PAKISTAN WIN!
The Final Update is here! Pakistan win by 21 runs through DLS method against New Zealand and they stay alive in the tournament! Shame that we couldn't get a full game on our hands and the Kiwis would be cursing themselves for this mishap which they believe they should have won. Fakhar Zaman is the hero for Pakistan!
Until We Come Back With Another Update, Enjoy The Biggies From PAK!
Still Gloomy!
The drizzle hasn't stopped and another few minutes would mean that Pakistan will take two points with them on account of being ahead on the DLS. Remember we have to start before 7:40 PM IST which is just 25 minutes away. The rain has stop first and then, the groundstaff has to clear the field to ensure that the play gets underway before the scheduled cut-off time.
Cut-off Time!
The revised cut-off time has been set at 7:40 PM IST which means we are around 50 mins away from no further play possible zone if rain doesn't stops.
We're sure they won't be losing in Super Overs Now!
Rain Again!
Nooo Wayyy! Rain is back in Bengaluru all of a sudden and it's a big moment in the game. Btw, Pakistan will again come out happy, 21 runs ahead on DLS. The DLS par score after 25.3 overs is 179/1. Pakistan are 200/1.
Fakhar Zaman going Bonkers here!
Fakhar has smashed Ish Sodhi for three massive sixes in the 25th over! Slog Sweeps doing the job for the southpaw. He is batting on 124*, Chinnaswamy is Alive!
Most 50+ scores for Pakistan in WC
9 - Javed Miandad
8 - Babar Azam*
7 - Misbah-ul-Haq
6 - Aamer Sohail
6 - Saeed Anwar
Babar Reigns Supreme!
Fourth Fifty for Babar Azam in the tournament! Wonderful batting display here from the PAK skipper. Two consecutive fours against Ish Sodhi to start off. He has done well in the tournament so far.
Play Resumes!
We're starting now. Boult will complete his over. Here we go. The second Powerplay to continue till the 33rd over. One bowler can bowl a maximum of nine overs. Four bowlers can deliver up to eight overs. Fakhar on strike.
The Fakhar Show!
The Big Update!
It will be a 41-over chase. The target for Pakistan is 342. Play will resume at 6:20 PM IST (Local Time). So Pakistan require 182 more runs to win in 117 balls. Very much a T20 game now for Pakistan.
Atleast, he has been told! 🫣
Someone isn't happy with PAK skipper's approach I guess!
Official Update
Inspection scheduled at 6 PM IST. Super Sobbers doing their job as all the covers have been removed. Minutes away from the next update.
Rain Stops
Good News Folks! The drizzle has halted and the covers are slowly coming off! Groundstaff have been quite proactive and we should now hope that the play resumes as quickly as possible. The cut-off time has been designated at 7 PM IST after which no further play is possible and hence, the result will be decided on DLS which at the moment is in Pakistan's favour. Moreover, we have started to lose overs now!
Meanwhile, You can follow the other ongoing high-voltage encounter between ENG vs AUS!
DLS Scenario
If 10 overs are lost, Pakistan will need 175 runs in the remaining 18.3 overs.
If 20 overs are lost, Pakistan will need 92 runs in the remaining 8.3 overs.
If 25 overs are lost, Pakistan will need 37 runs in the remaining 3.3 overs.
If no further play is possible, Pakistan will the game by 10 runs on the DLS method.
Update
As per the official sources, we'll start losing over after 5:40 PM IST which means we still have fair bit of time left before we look towards DLS. The drainage in Chinnaswamy is one of the best considering the game can start within 10 mins from the moment rain stops. However, covers are still in place as rain continues to pour down!
RAIN IS BACK!
Alright, rain couldn't stay away for long! Players are going back into the pavilion. Gloomy Sight. Covers are on. Good News for Pakistan: They are 10 Runs ahead on DLS.
"There's a breeze blowing across and that should be a good sign," says Sanjay Manjrekar.
Hundred for the PAK Opener
Fakhar Zaman gets to his 11th ODI hundred and also, this is the fastest by a player for Pakistan in World Cups! Reaches the milestone in 63 deliveries. Takes the aerial route to get to 99 against Santner and then, smartly takes a single to get to the landmark in the 20th over of the chase. Also, becomes the player with most sixes for Pakistan in a WC game with as many as 9 Biggies!
Well, certainly reminds me of this!
Fakhar Setting the Tone
The southpaw has continued with his form scoring two consecutive biggies against Glenn Philips in the 15th Over and then, again attacks him in the 17th Over with 6,4,4. Now, batting on the score of 85 as his previous innings against Bangladesh is pretty similar to this one.
Fakhar & Babar are in for it
That's the end of the first powerplay. Pakistan are off to a very good start. They lost Shafique early in the innings but the pair of Fakhar and Babar has recovered this innings beautifully. Still their end goal is way too far at the moment.
PAK looking to attack
17 runs off the last over as Pakistan's score reads 29/1 after 5 overs. Fakhar Zaman and Babar Azam have started to attack now. The former is looking tremendous with his strokeplay but the PAK skipper is still to find the right timing. This game will go down to the wire. Note that.
What a catch
Shafique throws it up in the air over mid-off but Kane Williamson runs behind and pulls off a stunner. He can do no wrong today. Was not an easy chance but he ran back, kept his eyes on the ball till the last moment and grabbed it with a dive. Pakistan are one down in the 402-run chase.
Tidy start from the Kiwis
A boundary and a couple of play and misses in the openers. Pakistan will have to script at Bengaluru if they want to stay in the contest, but can they do against Boult and co? I don't reckon.
Tim Southee from the other end.
Players are striding out
Fakhar Zaman and Abdullah Shafique are against Trent Boult. Can Pakistan chase this mighty total??
Good news, fans!
The covers are coming off. We would get a timely start for the run chase. It has cleared up and the chase will begin at 3:20 PM IST.
Rain in Bangalore!!! Good news for PAK?
It's bright and sunny, but raining, tells our local correspondent.
Who's the Admin for the day, Twitter team?
What a run-fest that was from NZ
It was absolute carnage here at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Runs came thick and fast for the Kiwis throughout the innings and Pakistan’s bowlers went on a journey. As a result, New Zealand have posted a mammoth 401 on the board, the highest total at this ground. This is also New Zealand's highest total in ODIs.
Another scalp for Wasim, Phillips' gone
Off the pads and onto the stumps. Wasim gets another and Phillips departs. Wasim Jr gets his third and continues his good job. A low full toss angling into the batter backing away a long way. Phillips goes across the line for a heave but fails to make a connection. Gets hit on the pads and then the ball deflects onto the stumps. End of a superb spell by the youngster - 3/60 in his 10 overs.
Arjun: With 30 more balls to go, how many more runs can New Zealand get here in Bangalore? My wild guess is they will end up at 393.
Wasim Jr cleans up Chapman
The off-stump of Chapman has been uprooted! Wasim Jr attacks the stumps and hits the top of off! A beautiful sight for a fast bowler. 140.3 kmph. Perfect length from Wasim Jr and traps Chapman, who clears his front leg for a pull only to miss the ball on the under edge to see the ball crash onto the off-stick!
Twist in the tale, Haris Rauf picks Mitchell
Haris Rauf is back into the attack and Mitchell plays it onto the woods. Bowls a 124.6 kmph slower ball to outfox Mitchell. The batter doesn't really transfer his front foot trying to go hard with a drive away from the body. Gets an inside edge back onto the stumps.
300 and Kiwis are still going strong
Two quick wickets for Pakistan but the partnership between Mitchell and Chapman hasn't let the momentum roll out of New Zealand's hands. The duo has already stitched a 47-run stand off just 25 balls, and they will look to post a 400 total against Pakistan at the flat track of Bangalore. Can the Shaheen Shah and co. do something like they did against Australia at the fag-end? I don't think so...
Quick wickets for PAK
Rachin Ravindra has been done. But a fine, fine knock by the youngster. Wasim Jr finally gets one to his name. Ravindra played a magnificent innings and this time, failed to execute the stroke to perfection. Brilliant knock from the Firebird and he is disappointed despite scoring 108 runs.
Daryl Mitchell is the new man in for NZ.
Mama misses a comeback ton
Heartbreak for Kane Mama and his fan. Huge moment in the game!! The BlackCaps skipper to get back to the hut at 95. Falls five runs short of a sensational century in his comeback game. Iffi Mania has finally delivered for Pakistan as Fakhar takes a running catch inches from long off.
WOW, Rachin, WOW!!
Rachin Ravindra gets to his 100 off 88 balls. First New Zealand player to score three World Cup 100 in one edition and Remember the Name - Rachin Ravindra. First England, then Australia and now Pakistan - this young kid is lighting up the World Cup for the BlackCaps. Came into the Playing XI as Williamson's cover and today he has overshadowed the Kiwi skipper with his dominance. Wow, boy!!!
Almost suicide in the middle
Kane Williamson could have been a goner at 89 but Iffi Mania got lethargic and got late to run the batter at the non-striker's end. Iftikhar was late to remove the bails as Williamson just dragged his bat inside the crease in time. NOT OUT. To be honest, the throw wasn't the greatest.
Historic in Bangalore for New Zealand 🇳🇿
The Williamson-Ravindra show is unstoppable!
At the 30-over mark, NZ are at 211 at the loss of just one wicket. Both Williamson and Ravindra are heading towards their individual hundreds. And if the BlackCaps continue at this rate, Pakistan will be punctured with a 400-plus total to chase.
200 up for the Kiwis
200 runs before 30 overs - The BlackCaps are back in the tournament. Hasan Ali is back into the attack and gets a warm welcome from the Kiwi skipper. He stays back and pulls it in front of the square on the leg side for a cracking boundary. Btw, Rachin Ravindra has completed 500 runs in World Cup 2023.
INTO THE TOP TIER!!!
This new kid on the block is special. Rachin Ravindra is very, very special. Haris Rauf has been deposisted into the stands at Chinnaswamy. This stadium may be small but that stroke was full of class. Ravindra picks the length early and gets underneath it on the back foot as he clears his front leg and whacks it from the middle of the bat.
Fifty for MAMA!
Second in this tournament and fifth half-century in World Cups, the BlackCaps skipper Kane Williamson is well and truly back.
Just look at that shot 😍😍😍
Kiwis are cruising against PAK side
The future and present of the New Zealand batting have been a nightmare for the Pakistan team in Bengaluru. Williamson and Ravindra have already shared a 100-run stand in the ongoing match, and this partnership is looking tormenting for PAK. Babar & co. have already started to miss a quality spinner through their ranks. Why on earth they droppe Usama Mir?
RACHIN'S 4TH FIFTY!!!!!
He is a run-machine for the New Zealand in this edition of the World Cup. The Bengaluru boy gets to his fifty. He would be delighted to get to this landmark in the city where he was born. He has surpassed Virat Kohli by becoming the second-highest run-getter in the tournament. I'm sorry, but in all honesty his parents should've simply named him Sachin and not Rachin.
What are they discussing? #NZvsPAK
THAT KANE WILLIAMSON TIMING 🤩🤩🤩
Drinks time in Bengaluru
Drinks have been called for the first time in Bengaluru. After calling it right at the toss, nothing has gone much Babar Azam and Pakistan's way in the ongoing clash. They are playing four seam-bowling option and bowling first. I cannot understand that decision. Hoping this break would bring change in fortunes for PAK. However, Kane Williamson and Rachin Ravindra are building a fine partnership for the BlackCaps. After 15 overs, the Kiwi score is inching towards 100-run mark.
Iffi Mania has returned in to bowl the 15th over.
1000 for Kane Mama!!!
Kane Williamson has completed 1000 ODI World Cup Runs. And he did that with his stroke that has his stamp all over it. A late dab for a boundary towards thirdman fence. Mind you, he tickled a 150 kmph delivery for a fine dab.
In walks Kane Mama. New Zealanders, you'd be happy and cheering. Aren't you?
