Hardik Pandya Ruled Out, Prasidh Krishna Roped In; Here's India's Playing XI vs South Africa

In a significant setback for India, ace all-rounder Hardik Pandya has been ruled out of the remainder of 2023 World Cup due to an ankle injury. The veteran cricketer injured his left ankle while bowling during India's fourth group-stage game against Bangladesh in Pune.

Following the incident, he didn't feature in India's subsequent fixtures, eventually being sidelined after failing to recover in time. As a result, India have drafted young seamer Prasidh Krishna into their World Cup squad as a replacement.

Led by Rohit Sharma, India have had a phenomenal journey in the World Cup, winning seven games on the trot. Although Suryakumar Yadav has blown hot and cold, the resurgence of Mohammed Shami has massively boosted the Indian bowling attack.

Furthermore, scintillating knocks from Shubman Gill and Shreyas Iyer against Sri Lanka emerged as a huge positive for the Men in Blue, as both these batters desperately needed a big innings to regain their mojo.

So, moving on to the all-important face-off against South Africa, India will likely continue with the same batting lineup, with Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul, Suryakumar Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja slotted in at numbers one to seven.

Meanwhile, although Mohammed Siraj has been playing continuously, Indian captain Rohit Sharma recently revealed that all the seamers are fit and don't need rest. Therefore, in all likelihood, the Men in Blue will go with the same bowling lineup that took the field in the last game.
