India won by seven wickets [AP]
India win by seven wickets, completing the run-chase in the 42nd over. It seemed like a child's play for the hosts. They did not look in any trouble throughout with Rohit and Shubman setting the platform for Kohli to do the finishing job.
India extend their winning streak to four games, while Bangladesh have lost three matches on the bounce and are pushed down to seventh place on the points table.
That's it for today. We will be back again with another live blog tomorrow for Australia versus Pakistan match. Do tune in then. Adios, amigos.
Century for Kohli and India win!!!
He has done it in style with a biggie. And the fireworks go up.
This is his first hundred in a World Cup after eight years. 48th overall.
What are you doing Bangladesh? Oh, the umpire has not given it a wide. Whole of India heave sigh of relief.
Running masterclass from both Kohli and Rahul takes the former closer to his hundred. He is batting on 97 now.
Buckle up your seatbelts. I sense it. This is the over. Kohli is eight runs away from a ton.
India have done the math. Kohli need 15 runs for a century and India are as many runs away from the win. A single is therefore denied.
SIX!!!
Kohli is pumped and why shouldn't he be. He has just thumped Hasan for a huge six over long-on
Rahul has made up his mind. He wants a Net Run Rate boost. Shoriful is taken to the cleaners with a six and a four on consecutive deliveries.
The target is now under 50. We are set to witness another India win. Bangladesh continue to struggle.
But the big question now is will Kohli score a hundred in the World Cup after eight years? He is batting on 68 with India requiring 48 runs.
Don't say it, don't say it, don't...
Kohli is scoring a hundred. Okay, I have let it out. Only if KL Rahul allows him to.
India are back to milking singles. Bangladesh are still playing the catch-up as their need for wickets surge up with the target coming down after every single.
India need 65 runs in 18 overs with seven wickets remaining.
WICKET!!!
Iyer departs against the run of play. Mahmudullah gives extra revs to the ball. Iyer commits to a risky aerial shot and finds a catcher at the deep mid-wicket region
50 for KOHLI!!!
The modern-day legend continues to write to his already rich legacy. He is leading India's charge with another splendid knock.
This is his third half-century in the ODI World Cup 2023.
The ball hit Iyer's foot while he was sneaking a run. It's nothing serious and he is back onto his position.
Another milestone for the King!
Things slowing down a bit. Shreyas Iyer and Kohli have gone a bit cautious but this phase will pass soon if Bangladesh do not take a wicket.
Bangladesh have gone back to Shoriful to build on the momentum they have gained by dismissing Shubman. The next 10 overs could decide the game. At the moment, it's India dominating the show with the score reading 146/2 at the end of the 22nd over.
Classic Kohli!
And Shubman is gone!!!
Mehidy Hasan Miraz is the man for Bangladesh. Shubman holes out near the boundary. Now, are Bangladesh in it?
It's a one-way traffic in Pune. Bangladesh are in serious trouble. They need a wicket and are still searching for a way to get that.
India are 130/1 in 19 overs.
There is no scoreboard pressure on India now. Shubman and Kohli are taking the game ahead, relying more on strike-rotation.
Murphy's law coming true for Bangladesh!
Their batting batting and and bowling failures seemed to have rubbed onto the fielding as well.
NUMERO UNO ROHIT!!!
Free-hits galore in Pune!
Virat Kohli gets freebies early in his innings and he swats them away for for a four and a six.
SIX AND OUT!!!
Rohit has just nailed a hook shot but trying to impose his authority, he took another bouncer. The India captain could not find the elevation and hands a catch near the boundary.
Hasan Mahmud provides Bangladesh a breakthough. Is it the opening that they needed?
SmoothMan Gill!!!
Gavaskar has just given a new nickname to Shubman and it fits him well. Mustafizur has been dealt with three delectable boundary-scoring shots.
India race off to 80/0 in 12 overs.
#SaraCheersShubman
Shubman joins the party!
He launches the ball twice in the Pune night sky in the same over and fetches two maximums.
The batting powerplay ends with India at 63/0.
50 UP FOR INDIA!
The run-chase is going pretty smoothly with both the opening batters looking well-settled in control.
I see what you did there!
Nasum is doing his job silently. The left-arm spinner conceded a four in the start of his second over but then bowled five dot balls as he tied down Rohit.
HOLD THE POSE!!!
Just an extension arms and Rohit guides the ball uppishly for another boundary.
Spin brought early on!
Good over by Nasum Ahmed as Shubman fails to thread it through the gaps.
SUMPTUOUS RO!
Shoriful does the mistake of dragging the ball a bit too short on the pitch as Rohit nonchalantly pulls it for a six.
Mustafizur Rahman will bowl from the other end. Let's see what he has up his sleeves.
Rohit Sharma has come out with a blazing approach!!!
Two boundaries get hit in the first over. However Shoriful ends it with a hoo-haa moment.
The action is about to get underway. Indian openers have taken guard. Left-arm pacer Shoriful Islam will open the proceedings for Bangladesh. Important first over coming ahead.
A tinge of orange in the sea of blue!
Sunil Gavaskar says India should not take this run-chase lightly. What do you reckon?
Shoriful Islam stuns Bumrah with a massive six over extra cover, as Bangladesh finish with 256 for 8 in 50 overs. Although it's a respectable total, the Tigers must be disappointed with it, considering how they were going at the start of the innings.
Jasprit Bumrah, you beauty! What a yorker by the Indian spearhead to get rid of Mahmudullah! I am sure this dismissal will hurt Bangladesh, as they won't be able to get a fitting finish.
2 overs remaining and it's Mahmudullah who has to finish it on a high note for Bangladesh. Can the experienced campaigner succeed in his mission? Let's see. And he hits a huge six off Siraj as we speak. What a strike!
ANOTHER WICKET FOR SIRAJ!!!!!🤩
Nasum Ahmed goes back after scoring 14 (18) . Mustafizur Rahman walks on to the crease now.

The first boundary of the day by Tanzid Hasan off Mohd. Siraj🥶
Bumrah is here!! The action begins!!!!🤩
Tanzid Hasan and Litton Das are taking charge
National anthems are done! I have a serious question - how on earth can someone drop Taskin Ahmed for Hasan Mahmud? And without Shakib Al Hasan, Bangladesh are looking even weaker.
Team Sheet!
India: Rohit Sharma (c), Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, Lokesh Rahul (wk), Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Shardul Thakur, Kuldeep Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj
Bangladesh: Litton Das, Tanzid Hasan, Najmul Hossain Shanto (c), Mushfiqur Rahim (wk), Mahmudullah Riyad, Towhid Hridoy, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Nasum Ahmed, Hasan Mahmud, Mustafizur Rahman, Mohammad Shoriful Islam
Big Update: Shakib Al Hasan won't feature in this match due to injury. In his absence, Najmul Hossain Shanto has joined Rohit Sharma for the toss. Meanwhile, Bangladesh have opted to bat first after winning the toss.
We are a few minutes away from the all-important toss. Given it's the first match at this venue, it will be interesting to see what the toss-winning team decides.
Interesting fact- Indian captain Rohit Sharma has been a headache for Bangladesh in ICC events. The Hitman scored scintillating hundreds against the Tigers in the 2017 Champions Trophy and the 2015 and 2019 World Cups.

VK fans have taken over MCA stadium!
Milestone alert: India's Prince Shubman Gill is 67 runs away from completing 2000 ODI runs. Interestingly, if he does so in the next three innings, he'll become the fastest to achieve the feat, beating Hashim Amla (40 innings). Meanwhile, the King himself is 77 runs shy of getting to 26000 RUNS. And, to become the fastest man to do so, he has 34 innings' time.
Team Previews
India
Team India have not tinkered with their team in the previous three games but it seems they might rest a couple of players for this game considering they will be playing strong teams like New Zealand and England after this one.
Whether it's the Indian spin attack or the pace bowlers, they have been on top of the team India have played so far in this tournament. Considering the number of left-handers in the Bangladesh team, the team management can bring the off-spinner in place of Shardul Thakur.
Ravichandran Ashwin with his experience could play a huge role in this game, especially against the left-handers like Shakib AL Hasan and Najmul Hossain Shanto.
With the luxury of having an all-rounder like Hardik Pandya, captain Rohit Sharma would not hesitate to play three spinners, especially on these kinds of wickets.
Bangladesh
Bangladesh started their World Cup campaign with a comprehensive win against the Afghanistan team who have delivered one of the biggest upsets in the history of the cricket world by defeating England. But in the last two games, they have not been playing their best cricket.
Having quality seam bowlers like Mustafizur Rehman and Taskin Ahmed is a great luxury for the Tigers but a dip in their form have cost the team a couple of successive defeats. In three games, Mustafizur Rehman has picked just a couple of games. While Shoriful Islam has been outstanding in the first two games picking up five wickets.
Shakib Al Hasan could bring in the off-spinner Mahedi Hasan, who picked up a four-wicket haul against England. A couple of changes in this team would make a better unit in the game against India tomorrow.
After three back-to-back wins, the Rohit Sharma-trained Indian troops are all set to take on their rival from the east, i.e. Bangladesh, in Pune on Thursday. A victory here would boost Men in Blue's morale and take them to the top of the ceiling. However, never underestimate the Bangla Tigers, as it has been a week of upsets.
