11:24 PM | Chasing 163 runs, there were moments that made it look as if Gujarat Titans will stumble. However, Sai Sudharsan's sensible 48-ball 62 and David Miller's blitz helped the Titans achieve their second win in IPL 2023.

For Delhi Capitals, Anrich Nortje claimed two wickets. However, as DC were at least 20 runs short, his fiery spell did not matter much in the end result of the match.

Gujarat Titans win by six wickets 

Miller hits the winning runs. Worked an off-stump delivery to the leg-side as Gujarat Titans win by six wickets in 18.1 overs.

11:21 PM | Gujarat Titans need two runs off 12 deliveries.

50-run partnership between Sudharsan and Miller.


A four brings up the fifty for Sudharsan. And he aims to finishing off the match early. Hammers a pull on a Nortje delivery to bring down the target by six runs. GT require 12 off three overs now.

No fielder at long-on and Miller goes right in that area. Nonetheless, it would not have mattered as it is a six. And now, he eyes extra cover and gets a four. Gujarat now need just 26 runs off 24 balls.


Slightly short by Mukesh and Miller deposits it for a maximum to bring the equation down to 37 off 26.

11:03 PM | Kuldeep concedes just five in the 15th over. Gujarat Titans need 46 runs off 30 balls with six wickets remaining.

10:59 PM | Miller opts for the DRS. He has been adjudged lbw. The ball-tracking shows wickets as missing. It's not-out.

10:53 PM | Umpire signals for a strategic break.

Marsh traps Vijay in front of the stumps. Bowls full, the batter misses the shot as the ball thuds on to his pads.

10:51 PM | DC have taken a review for lbw. It's out. 

10:48 | Vijay and Sudharsan play out Nortje carefully. Just five runs come off the over.

Aayush: Warner is bringing in Nortje. This could be the last throw of the dice for DC as far as the ongoing game is concerned.

It's the Impact Player, who is putting on an exhibition of pulls here. Now, targets the square-leg region and buys himself and GT another boundary.

Vijay dexterously pulls one over mid-wicket and accumulates a four.

10:34 PM | At the 10-over mark, GT are at 83/3.

A straight-hit over the bowler's head gives Vijay his first boundary of the innings.

Sudharsan punches one off the back-off and moves to 29 off 23 deliveries with a boundary.

9:24 PM | The required rate has crept above eight. Gujarat Titans are 66/3 at the end of the eighth and still need 97 runs to win.

Aayush: While many would criticise GT's choice of the Impact Player, it seems right to me. With the side three down already, they would not have any other primary batter left had they sent David Miller in at no.5.

Mitchell Marsh comes to the attack.

10:10 PM | Powerplay is done and Gujarat Titans are at 54/3. Vijay Shankar is their Impact Player and he replaces Joshua Little.


Hardik departs. Big wicket this. Khaleel's delivery comes with the angle, takes the outside edge of the bat and is caught safely by the wicket-keeper.

Classy... Sudharsan is looking in good touch. Plays a flick to long-on and gathers a four.


Sudharsan goes unorthodox on a free-hit. Plays a scoop over the wicket-keeper for a maximum.

Hardik Pandya is in at no.4.

And Gill is knocked over. A 149 kmph delivery hurries him. The ball stays low as the batter tries to whip it down to the leg-side but fails in his attempt.

Sudharsan drives uppishly. Bowler think it's a chance but no, the ball is placed into the gap for a boundary.

Sai Sudharsan joins Shubman at the crease. And the latter scores a boundary on a no-ball. 

Anrich Nortje dismisses Saha on his first ball in IPL 2023. A nip-backer and the batter cannot do much as the bails light up.

It's raining boundaries out there. Mukesh again offers Shubman width and he is too quick to pounce on it.

FOUR!!! In-form Shubman opens her account with a delirious cut over point. 

Mukesh Kumar will bowl from the other end.

Saha takes on Impact Player Khaleel straightaway. Pumps the ball towards the boundary line, including a six, in the first over three times. Gujarat Titans are starts the chase with a 14-run over.

9:35 PM | We are back with the run-chase. Shubman Gill and Wriddhiman Saha are the Gujarat Titans openers. Khaleel Ahmed is the Impact Player for Delhi Capitals and he will bowl the first over.

Some other news for Gujarat Titans' fans 

9:22 PM | Gujarat Titans were right on the mark throughout the innings. Although Delhi Capitals boast a lethal top-order, the likes of Alzarri Joseph and Mohammad Shami proved to be too good for them. Rashid Khan took care of DC's middle-order and he along with Shami combined for the opposition's six dismissals, while Joseph claimed two scalps.

Axar Patel did send a few hits over the boundary. Mainly because of his 22-ball 36, the Capitals set a total of 162 runs.

Delhi Capitals finish at 162/8.

Anrich Nortje joins Kuldeep and hits a four on the final ball of the innings as DC score 162/8.

Shami goes wide off the off-stump. Axar tries to get underneath it but could not get all of it and walks back to the dressing room.


In the slot and out of the park. Shami bowls a length delivery and Axar launches one on the leg-side for a biggie.

Aayush: Final over left in the innings and DC are at 150/7. With Axar on strike, they must target a total of 165.

Kuldeep Yadav walks in as DC's no.9.

SIX and GONEEE!!! After hitting hit for a six on a googly, Rashid deploys a leg-break. Aman top-edges the ball and is caught.


Axar gets full toll of a length delivery and hammers it over long-off for a maximum.

Aman Hakim Khan is out in the centre.

Four and Out... Sarfaraz goes for the sweep short after getting a boundary in the last delivery. But perishes this time. Rashid gets his man.

9:00 PM | Umpire signals for a strategic break.

Axar stamps his authority against Rashid. Clears the mid-wicket boundary with utmost ease.


Axar takes out the cut shot to get on top of the delivery and collects a four.

Axar Patel pulls Rashid disdainfully over long-on for a four. 

Axar Patel is in at no.7. 

Rashid Khan comes to bowl and strikes in his first over. Abhishek Porel misses a leg-break all ends up the ball hits the stumps.


Abhishek Porel has arrived in the IPL... Plays a pull and dispatches the ball into to the stands. 100 up for DC in 12 overs.

A skyer and put down. Sarfaraz tries to tonk a full delivery but miscues it. Little runs backwards but the ball bounces off his hands on to the ground.

Yash Dayal is the new bowler.

Porel slashes away. Yash Dayal almost grabbed the ball but goes over the ropes while doing so. It's the first boundary for Abhishek Porel in the IPL.

8:30 PM | Halfway through the innings and DC are at 78/4.

Rossouw and ducks...

Sarfaraz finally executes a cut and scores his first boundary of the match. This should get him going, especially after the snorter that him in the last over.

Debutant Abhishek Porel comes to bat.

Wow!!! Joseph bowls a sharp 146 kmph bouncer. Rossouw is caught off guard. The ball hits his bat, balloons in the air and Rahul Tewatia completes a tough catch.


8:19 PM | Rilee Rossouw walks in. And is he out for a golden duck? Third-umpire is checking for a fair catch. It's out.

Warner plays with an angled bat and cuts the ball back on to the stumps. Joseph dismisses the big fish.

Alzarri Joseph comes to the attack.

Time-out!

8:12 PM | Economical eighth over by Hardik. Just four runs off it.

Warner goes down town and plays a cracking shot over mid-off for a four. Follows that up with a cut but the result is the same.

8:03 PM | Four leg-byes end the powerplay. DC are at 52/2.

Warner is getting back into the zone. Hardik Pandya goes a bit short and the batter is too quick to not play a pull. Another boundary for him and the Capitals.


Warner carves the ball to backward-point for a four. Shami again allows the Aussie to free his arms and he obliges.

Sarfaraz Khan is the new batter.

Marsh welcomes Shami with a boundary but the India veteran comes back to castle him. Tries to pull a similar shot to the last delivery but gets chopped on this time. 


Aayush: Although Warner is finding boundaries, he has looked scratchy. Shami troubled him with the new ball and he has looked at sea against Little as well. But the important thing is he is still batting and can change the tide in no time.

Mitchell Marsh joins David Warner in the middle.

Shaw plays a pull with a planted back-foot and holes out to the fielder at mid-on. Shami earns the reward for his swing but it's a short delivery that gets the better of the batter.

Shaw slashes and slashes hard. Fetches four runs via a thick outside edge.


Little gives Warner width and he sees it as a gift. Throws the bat at the ball and slams it to extra-cover for a four.

Joshua Little is the second pacer, who will bowl with the new ball.

Shami beats Warner on the outside edge. Beats him on the inside edge too. The ball kisses the stumps, although the bails do not fall. But the pacer goes wayward in his line and concedes two boundaries to end the over.

7:28 PM | David Warner and Prithvi Shaw will open for Delhi Capitals. Mohammad Shami set to bowl the first over of the innings for Gujarat Titans.

Aayush: Someone had to make way for Anrich Nortje. But that 'someone' should not have been Rovman Powell.

Hardik Pandya (Gujarat Titans Captain): We will bowl first. Not sure how the wicket will play. Hence we will see how it will play and chase the score they put on the board. Two changes. Miller comes in for Kane Williamson. Sai Sudharsan comes in for Vijay.

Pitch Report (Aaron Finch): Welcome to match number 7 of the IPL here at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. The ground looks like an absolute picture. If you look at the dimensions of the ground, it’s 64m on either side of the squares and 70m down the ground. This wicket is smack bang right in the middle. If we look at the pitch, it was a completely different surface a couple of weeks ago when the Test match was played here. Today, it’s completely different. Even covering of grass and is an unbelievably flat surface. I expect some pace and bounce for the swing and seam bowlers. A couple of patches in the wicket are dry, but it is still hard. Even though it’s dry, I don’t think that it will influence the game. 165 is the average score here. The trend going on in the tournament is that teams want to chase. Personally, I feel bat first and put runs on the board to put pressure on the chasing side.

After a torrid outing in the first match of the season, Delhi Capitals return to their home ground. In their campaign-opener, nothing clicked for them as they suffered a 50-run pounding at the hands of Lucknow Super Giants (LSG).
